Is Derek Jeter Married? Yankee Superstar Ties The Knot With Swimsuit Model Hannah Davis

Is baseball great Derek Jeter married? According to People, the answer is yes! The celebrity news and human interest magazine reports that Derek Jeter, 42, married his girlfriend of almost four years, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Hannah Davis, 26, on Saturday in what was described as an “intimate ceremony” at Meadowood Napa Valley Resort in St. Helena, California.

Derek Jeter revealed that he was engaged to be married in the autumn of 2015, when People reported that Jeter casually referred to Hannah Davis as his “fiancée” in a blog post on his personal website. He didn’t spell out the news that he was getting married, but instead wrote a blog post enthusing about his dog, Kane, and stated that the Italian Mastiff was a holiday gift from Davis, his then-fiancée. He made no other mention of their changed status as a couple in the blog post.

“I had no idea what I was in for as a new dog owner. He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up. I’ve never owned a pet in my life.”

Hannah Davis began wearing a gorgeous round-cut diamond engagement ring in a platinum french-set band following the publication of her fiancé’s revealing blog post. Mark Keeney, vice president of marketing at online jeweler Ritani, spoke to Hollywood Life in November about the stats: he estimated the stone to be at least three carats, and the ring’s cost to be around $300,000. Davis held her bachelorette party in Miami in early June.

Derek Jeter’s impending marriage sparked many media rumors well into the spring of 2016, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. In May, the New York Daily News suggested that Jeter and Davis were to be married in Napa Valley in July, which turned out to be extremely accurate. The only part of the rumor that missed the mark was the exact date; the wedding was at the time rumored to be planned for the Fourth of July long weekend, with the ceremony held on Saturday, July 2. Jeter and Davis in fact married exactly one week later, on July 9.

Derek Jeter’s retirement from major league baseball in 2014 was massive news in the world of sports, but Jeter’s level of celebrity is so impressive that news of his retirement escaped the niche of the sports section and crossed over into mainstream news. Jeter is a beloved figure in the greater New York City metro area, and his retirement sent shockwaves through local media at the time.

Derek Jeter’s beloved status in New York City made it a fitting choice for Jeter and Davis to make their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May 2015, which they waited for quite some time to do — they had already been dating for almost three years. The New York Times has described the Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball or the Costume Institute Gala, as an annual fundraiser that is held to raise money for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — nicknamed “the Met” — every May.

The Costume Institute’s collection is housed in the Anna Wintour Costume Center in the museum, named for Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who has chaired the gala since 1995. According to Women’s Wear Daily, First Lady Michelle Obama formally opened the Anna Wintour Costume Center in 2014, the year of Derek Jeter’s retirement. The Met Gala is a very New York event, and the red carpet is always the talk of the fashion world for weeks afterward.

Derek Jeter has fans from all walks of life. Whether they are more interested in him for his legendary baseball stats or for his remarkable work as a philanthropist (MLB.com tells us that Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation has a mission “to create and support signature programs and activities that motivate young people to turn away from drugs and alcohol and ‘Turn 2’ healthy lifestyles), Jeter is universally popular. His wedding to Hannah Davis will undoubtedly mark one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of 2016.

Derek Jeter’s retirement media blitz in 2014 included the comment to People that he was looking forward to becoming a father.
