Amazon Prime Day 2016 Is Coming On July 12

Amazon Prime Day 2016 is something all bargain shoppers and Amazon shoppers look forward to. According to Bustle, however, shoppers who are waiting for a specific day do not understand exactly what Amazon Prime Day 2016 is. While this unofficial Amazon holiday is about one day packed with tons of back-to-back deals and discounts – Amazon Prime Day offers customers so much more than just that.

CNET had the pleasure of conducting an interview with the man, Greg Greeley, who started Amazon Prime Day last year with his team.

“We knew immediately when we turned on Japan and saw the response from Japanese Prime members that we had hit upon something special.”

Initially, Amazon Prime Day was something only offered to Amazon Japan customers. When the company realized just how much attention Amazon Prime Day got and how much business it created – the company made the decision to expand it.

According to CNET, Amazon Prime has been in operation for more than a decade. This $99 annual membership service plan has become a vital player in what allows Amazon to continue to grow as a company. This membership ensures that customers will continue to come back to this retail giant for all of their shopping needs. It is estimated that there are somewhere between 57 and 61 million Amazon Prime subscribers in the United States. The services you get with this membership include food delivery, two-day shipping, cloud storage, music streaming, and video streaming.

When Greely was asked if the company was done adding additional features to Prime this was his response, “Just so we’re clear: We are not done. There’s more that we can do for Prime.”

Amazon Prime Day 2016 is more or less a combination of Cyber Monday and Black Friday. On July 12, 2016, Amazon will offer deals exclusive to Prime members. Every hour there will be a new set of deals. The only catch is the deals will only be available for one hour. Prime members have an hour from the time a deal is released to grab the item if they want it. Typically, when Amazon does these kinds of promotions there is also a limit to how many customers can claim any particular deal.

Bustle also reported that Amazon Prime customers who are waiting for Amazon Prime Day 2016 to arrive could be missing out on some really great deals and Amazon has created smaller deals and has been handing them out. The smaller deals started on July 5, and will continued to be offered until Amazon Prime Day starts. It is the equivalent of a small party before the main event. The deals are not as big as the deals that will be offered during Amazon Prime Day, but customers may be able to snag something for a nice price.

The only major downside to Amazon Prime Day is most of the deals offered are not available to view until the hour they are offered. Other than a few leaks and advertisements, customers will have to sit by the computer and refresh Amazon every hour in order to see what the next deal of the day is.

During the interview with CNET, Greeley said Amazon customers can expect lots of incredible deals during Amazon Prime Day 2016. Greeley was also questioned about the limited quantity of some items offered during other similar events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Greeley appeared to give a round-about answer without really answering the question.

“We saw people buying lots and lot of items. So, it’s almost amusing to have someone making a quip on social to say this is something odd or unusual or why would I want this, and then see them selling out.”

Greeley did agree with the complaint that people have had trouble finding the deals in the past. He claims the company took necessary steps to eliminate this issue for Amazon Prime Day.
