George And Amal Clooney Cozy In Their Renovated Castle Fit For Royalty, What Amal Wants She Gets

George and Amal Clooney are one of the hottest couples in Hollywood at the moment and are even more intriguing because Amal is one hard-working human rights barrister in London, where she represents some very high-profile clients.

Well, the couple has moved into a new residence in England that is news-worthy all its own as it is a gorgeous 17th century mansion that the couple has been refurbishing intensely over the past 18 months. The property is in Sonning, a village on the Thames, located just outside of Reading. Many villagers reportedly have been hoping to catch sight of the gorgeous couple at the local pub, however, this has yet to be the case. The property is kept very private by lush shrubs and other foliage. Only the roof of a boathouse can be spied, close to the edge of the river.

It’s reported that the couple has certainly made their mark on the gorgeous estate which was put on the market in 2014 for approximately £7.5 million. The amount that the couple ended up paying for it is unknown, yet they bought the property just after their lavish three-day wedding in Venice. New Zealand Herald gives a description of the property and the mansion.

“Remodelled during the Georgian era, the house, stands on a five-and-a-half acre island on one of the most idyllic stretches of the Thames, at Sonning Eye, which marks the boundary with Oxfordshire. The village is a higgledy-piggledy mix of half-timbered houses, some dating from the 13th century, and more austere Georgian properties. There is a slightly unreal feel to the place, as though it’s part of a film set.”

Builders relayed to the publication that Clooney apparently told them that “what Amal wants, Amal gets.” That’s a man who knows the way to a woman’s heart. The budget for the project was reportedly limitless until both Amal and George were satisfied. The goal of the renovators was to create the perfect family home, no matter the cost, and almost immediately after the property was purchased, work began that included a workforce of 20 people.

Townspeople shared with the publication that at times there were disruptions due to the renos by the Clooneys and that the skyline was impeded by a 60-meter high crane. Additionally, the street leading to the estate was filled with vans and contractor vehicles.

It, however, sounds as though the final result was worth all the fuss and the “Grand Design[ is] on a truly monumental scale,” as the publication notes. The Clooneys had reportedly moved into the estate back in April, yet have been quite private and have yet to make any appearances.

As for the cost of the entire project, based on the extensive work that was done, the final assessment of property value is said to be upward of £20 million, which is at least double what George and Amal paid for the property. The publication notes, based on the words of a source, that the interior of the estate has been decorated impeccably, with a romantic and dreamlike appeal. It’s reported that the entire 11,000 square feet of living space has been completely renovated to give a whole new aesthetic that is fitting to the happy couple who now call it home.

From what the neighbors have shared, George and Amal Clooney have been mainly absent from the estate due to poor weather. The couple has the choice of their Los Angeles mansion, their Italian villa, as Daily Mail shares, and the British estate, and have recently opted to be in the warmer and sunnier regions.

Amal and George Clooney certainly have built a rather incredible life for themselves with a number of gorgeous properties to choose from.
