Jaden Smith Turning 18: Check Out The Twitter Moments And Personal Highlights [Video]

It’s July 8, and Jaden Smith is turning 18. This means that much of the teen star’s recent personal drama will immediately fall by the wayside. After all, Jaden Smith’s relationship with the controversial Sarah Snyder has been tabloid fodder for months now, largely because he was a child and she an adult. Now, the social media darlings are both officially grown-ups, so we can focus on some new Jaden Smith drama to get our fix.

Jaden is one of the most popular celebrities on social media, and he has a long and complicated relationship with Twitter. Often, Jaden Smith shares convoluted and cryptic thoughts and feelings on his Twitter feed, as the New York Daily News reports.

Jaden Smith’s love affair with Twitter began in his early teens, and it has evolved, mostly alongside his adolescent psyche and teen angst. One has to wonder if he’s ever embarrassed when tweets from his younger years come back to haunt him. Like this one, where Jaden Smith touts his eternal love for Twilight.

In 2013, Jaden Smith really began to embrace his existential side, with profound (and often inexplicable) thoughts popping up on Twitter with some degree of regularity. A few likened Jaden Smith’s 2013 tweets with Lewis Carroll. Others thought he was just weird. Weird or not, the following Jaden Smith tweet was shared a full 35,000 times, which has to count for something.

In 2014, Jaden’s focus seemed to shift from being profound to giving advice and drawing on life lessons that many thought were a bit too deep to come from such a young teen. How much wisdom could young Jaden Smith, son of Hollywood royalty and newly hatched star, really have? Apparently, in Jaden’s opinion, he had plenty. So much, in fact, that he felt the need to share.

2015 saw Jaden Smith repeatedly (and always temporarily) deleting his Twitter account. It also saw the teen publicly growing into a more aware quasi-adult as he gained some of the life experience that he (perhaps erroneously) thought he’d already achieved the year before. Jaden turned his own name into an adjective (think: “How Jaden Smith is that?”), and he decided to use his ever-growing star power to comment on other celebs, some of which he idolized as being as Jaden Smith as himself or maybe even more. 2015 was also the year that Jaden saw many of his followers disagree with his self-lauded social media views.

In 2016, Jaden Smith’s personal life became front and center on his Twitter feed. He’s spent plenty of time talking about his world travels; he’s spent a little time talking about his current love, Sarah Snyder (sometime’s cryptically), and he’s almost always sharing his life story on social media.

In addition to sharing his personal tidbits on Twitter, Jaden Smith has spent a lot of time on 2016 touting his professional accomplishments and plans for the future — and for good reason. 2016 has been an iconic year for Jaden. It could even be the year of Jaden Smith, especially on social media.

One of the Jaden’s biggest focuses, at least on Twitter, has been his much-anticipated debut album. He publicly asked Michael Cera (you read that right) to help him get it finished. He pinned a tweet to remind him to finish the thing already. Jaden Smith even shared a photo that many believe to be Kanye West in a studio, sparking gossip that West would be a driving force behind the long-awaited Jaden Smith musical effort.

He even “leaked” a look at his new artistic endeavor on sister Willow Smith’s SoundCloud page.

All in all, 2016 has been an awesome year for Jaden Smith, and none of the other years have been too shabby, either. In addition to his social media addiction, he’s been one busy guy. It looks like the album he’s been promising is well on its way to becoming a reality. He’s managed to maintain a highly-publicized relationship in the public eye, and he carried it through to his 18th birthday. He’s even become the first male face of Louis Vuitton’s women’s clothing line.

Jaden’s even reported to be worth about $8 million in his own right, and that was before his 18th birthday. Here’s to hoping that Jaden Smith’s personal and professional life weather the transition to adulthood.
