Kim Kardashian Pens Heartfelt #BlackLivesMatter Message, ‘I Want My Children To Know Their Lives Matter’

Kim Kardashian is sharing an emotional letter in support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement in the wake of the tragic deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

Kardashian posted the heartfelt message to her official website on July 8, which is usually protected by a pay wall, in which Kim candidly spoke out about wanting her two children, North and Saint West, to grow up without living in fear.

Beginning with a title of #BlackLivesMatter for the lengthy post, Kim told fans that she was “appalled and completely heartbroken” after watching the viral videos uploaded to social media of Alton and Philando’s deaths at the hands law enforcement officers this week, adding that the graphic videos left her “speechless, angry and numb.”

“I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter,” Kardashian said of her two children with husband Kanye West.

“I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police,” Kim said of her son, Saint West. “[I don’t want to] tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust—the people who ‘protect and serve’—may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin,” Kardashian continued.

Kardashian then orchestrated a call to action for parents around the U.S., urging them “to create a safe future for our children.”

“We must do something NOW. We must speak up until we are heard and real, effective changes are made,” Kim wrote on her site.

Kim Kardashian then appeared to reference the sniper attack that took place in Dallas, Texas, on July 7, condemning the gunmen that CNN reported shot and killed five police officers in what’s being described as the deadliest single incident for U.S. law enforcement since 9/11.

“The last thing we need is to fuel anger with more hate or violence, especially toward the many incredible police officers who risk their lives every single day to protect our families and communities,” Kim wrote in her sincere #BlackLivesMatter support letter.

“We must peacefully use the power of our voices and the strength of our numbers to demand changes in the judicial system so that brutality doesn’t ever go unpunished,” Kardashian said.

Signing off her letter with the names of a slew of African-Americans killed by police officers, including Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland and Sean Bell, Kardashian ended her message, “Hashtags are not enough. This must end now.”

Kim then opted to encourage her fans to speak out by including links to the official #BlackLivesMatter website, as well as the United States House of Representatives’ “Find Your Representative” page.

Kardashian also provided links to donate to the families of both Sterling and Castile.

Kim’s lengthy message came shortly after the reality star was slammed by social media users for posting a selfie online while more information about the shootings flooded in, although Kim also took to social media earlier this week to express her sadness over the deaths of both Alton and Philando, retweeting messages of support to the victims.

Kardashian first retweeted a message posted to Twitter by musician John Legend on July 7, which read, “We should not have to jump through hoops to prove black people shouldn’t be shot by police during routine traffic stops.”

Kim then opted to retweet an image showing Sterling lying on the ground just minutes before he was shot dead, showing him being restrained by two police officers.

Just hours later, Kardashian also retweeted a message uploaded by Complex magazine that featured a link to a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for Castile’s family.
