‘The Vanishing Women’ Delays Filming And Production Of Final Episode [Spoilers]

In an effort to bring viewers the very latest information concerning Investigation Discovery’s (ID) record-breaking series The Vanishing Women, it was recently announced that the sixth and final episode will be filmed at a later date due to several breaks in the ongoing investigation. The two missing and four deceased women from Chillicothe, Ohio, all had families and friends who love and miss them, and not only do they want answers, but they want to see justice served.

According to TV Series Finale, this riveting docu-series has been instrumental in reviving public interest in these cases, which has resulted in several new leads. The final episode of The Vanishing Women, which is now set to air sometime this fall, will continue to follow law enforcement as new tips and leads are investigated. The Vanishing Women will be covering the criminal trial of Jason McCrary as well. McCrary is currently awaiting trial for the alleged killing of Timberly Claytor.

“As the leading authority in true crime programming, Investigation Discovery has the unique opportunity—and, indeed, even the responsibility—to use our platform for The Vanishing Women and elevate these cases to a national level,” said Henry Schleiff, the group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America. “With new leads now coming forward and a criminal trial on the horizon, it is incumbent upon ID to cover these developments for our viewers, so we have decided to return in the fall with our finale to hopefully deliver closure to at least one of the victim’s families.”

So far, The Vanishing Women has taken viewers through much of the ongoing criminal investigation into the six open cases. According to the Chillicothe Police Department, new tips have poured in from all across the country since the premiere of The Vanishing Women. As they continue to search for answers, they are looking at the possibility that they may have a serial killer in their midst.

Another theory is that the Chillicothe women may have been the victims of a human trafficking ring. Since many of the women knew each other and ran in the same circles, either theory could be feasible, and it has many women in the small community afraid to leave their homes. Anyone with information is asked to call the task force hotline at 740-774-FIND (3463) or findme@RossSheriff.com.

Next week’s episode, titled “In the Shadows,” continues to follow the tragic story of Shasta Himelrick. The Futon Critic shared that when the pregnant 20-year-old’s body was found, her friends and family believe she was murdered. However, the coroner’s findings tell a different story and rules her death a suicide. Meanwhile, a new tip emerges in the missing person case of 38-year-old Wanda Lemons, revealing that she may have caught a ride back to Texas. Unfortunately, further investigation causes law enforcement to rethink this theory.

Nearly two years after the first woman disappeared, the community of Chillicothe still seeks answers to these mysterious disappearances and deaths. Many hope that those answers will come when Jason McCrary goes to trial. As this story continues to unfold, further developments and updates will undoubtedly be forthcoming in the near future.

The Vanishing Women is produced for Investigation Discovery by Sirens Media, with Valerie Haselton serving as executive producer and Jennifer Anderson is the co-executive producer. For Investigation Discovery, Eugenie Vink is executive producer, Sara Kozak is SVP of production, and Kevin Bennett is the general manager. Henry Schleiff is group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America.
