Gwen Stefani Files Documents For Name Change? Singer Discusses Heartbreak Over Cheating Ex-Husband

Gwen Stefani is back and seems stronger and more driven than ever following a bit of a hiatus from the music scene and the discovery of devastating details about her now-ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, involving the affair he carried on with the couple’s former nanny.

Although Stefani appears to be on cloud nine in her new relationship with Blake Shelton and is experiencing success with her latest solo album, Gwen recently got real about the pain she went through following the fallout with Rossdale. CNN shares words the singer spoke in an interview given to Harper’s Bazaar.

“It was the beginning of hell. She goes on to add that she spent the next several months going through ‘hell’ and ‘torture,’ trying to unravel this ‘big secret’ that had been right under her nose for quite some time. Stefani tells the magazine that she immediately moved in with a girlfriend, who ‘helped me through the whole thing. All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have.'”

In addition to dealing with her dream being shattered, Stefani also shares about the pure torture she feels at having to split her time with her children between herself and Rossdale.

“It was so insane because not only did my family break up, but then my kids are taken away like half the time, so that was really like, ‘What?! What did I do?'”

The beauty admits to finding solace and comfort in Blake Shelton, who was experiencing a very similar situation while going through a divorce from Miranda Lambert. That was the igniting force that brought the two musicians together. They found love by way of bonding over their own personal tragedies.

“It was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time.”

To fully distance herself from the heartache that her ex caused her, Stefani, who has always used her birth name as her stage name, will be dropping the name she took on when she wed Gavin back in 2002. The world has continued to know the No Doubt frontwoman as Gwen Stefani, however, the singer legally changed her name to Rossdale for the period of time she and the Bush singer were married. Entertainment Tonight shares about Gwen’s decision to drop the name.

“The 46-year-old ‘Misery’ singer filed legal documents in a Los Angeles Superior Court last month to officially drop Rossdale from her last name. According to the documents obtained by ET, the pop star requests that her name be restored to Gwen Renée Stefani.”

Gwen and Gavin, as noted, continue to split time parenting their three sons, Kingston, 10, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2. As noted, Stefani has moved on to a loving relationship with the man who helped see her through the tough times. Blake Shelton recently spoke about how Gwen was a great support to him when he was experiencing a tumultuous split from Miranda Lambert.

ET relays the county singer’s words on the topic of Gwen.

“My marriage fell apart,” Shelton explained. “To find out she’s going through the exact same thing at the same time… All this has to be meant to happen.”

It seems fated that the two should find each other at the time they did while each was experiencing similar relationship woes. After keeping their romance quiet for a number of months, the talented duo finally went public last fall, and Blake and Gwen have appeared smitten ever since.
