This Cast-Off From JoJo Fletcher’s Season Of ‘The Bachelorette’ Could Shock Everyone And Be The Next ‘Bachelor’ If It’s The Right Time

As the current season of The Bachelorette moves on, JoJo Fletcher now has it down to just six guys remaining. She must eliminate five more before all is said and done, and send them home so she can find her true love. Many believe that the next lead on The Bachelor is going to come from the five guys still yet to be sent home, but there is always the possibility that ABC could shock the world by choosing someone else entirely.

Please let it be known that there are possible spoilers ahead for the current season of The Bachelorette starring JoJo Fletcher. If you don’t want to know them, just stop reading now.

While it often seems as if ABC is going to go the route of selecting one of the last few guys from The Bachelorette to be the next “Bachelor,” they could decide to pull a swerve. It honestly wouldn’t be out of left field if the world tuned in next season and saw a group of women going after Derek Peth.

In Episode 6 of The Bachelorette, there were still eight guys remaining and Derek was one of them. He made it into the final one-third of guys who started out the show, and that’s a pretty big feat on any season of this series.

As reported by Reality Steve, Derek went on a two-on-one date with JoJo Fletcher and Chase McNary, and it simply wasn’t meant to be. Chase for the rose and Derek ended up being sent home from Argentina and with a broken heart.

Still, he lasted a lot longer than most of the other potential suitors and two episodes longer than Chad Johnson, a guy who easily had the spotlight on him a lot.

His time on The Bachelorette is something that just sort of “landed in my lap,” according to an interview he gave to Bustle. Derek had never once seen an episode of the show but watched some seasons to get acquainted with it before appearing.

Now, Bustle was curious if he would be interested in being the lead on the next season of The Bachelor. It’s not something that is just an easy decision, but he also isn’t entirely sure if ABC would even look in his direction when choosing that leading man.

“I don’t know the answer to that. I really would have to think about it, because, like I said, I don’t think it’s a decision that should be made lightly. I don’t think that’s gonna be requested of me.”

Derek Peth may not think becoming the next “Bachelor” would be requested of him, but stranger things have happened in this odd reality TV world. The thing is, Derek doesn’t necessarily want to get right back into that world unless it’s the absolute right thing for him.

He admits it was a bit awkward seeing himself on television and he wasn’t totally crazy about it. Derek actually compares it to hearing your own voice on a voicemail and how people hate it and then magnifying “that by like 100.”

Yeah, that does sound pretty frightening.

The thing is, it may not be totally up to Derek Peth if he wants to be The Bachelor or not. If ABC chooses him and the price is right, you can almost guarantee he would do it, and right now, that possibility is out there.

Derek Peth as the next lead on The Bachelor? It’s not entirely out of the question even though some truly believe it will be Robby Hayes or Chase McNary or Luke Pell or even Chad Johnson. The Bachelorette creator Mike Fleiss could go out of his way to shock the world and choose Derek as the next guy searching for his one true love. This would truly cause a stir, and it would be a way to immediately get people talking so don’t put it past them.
