‘Game Of Thrones’: An Unexpected Wedding Coming And A Battle Game Changer? [Spoilers]

As Game of Thrones prepares for an epic final battle during its last two seasons, theories and rumors abound on who will be left standing at the end, and more importantly, who will be sitting — sitting on the Iron Throne. With Jon Snow’s (Kit Harrington) lineage finally confirmed, Game of Thrones fans are now speculating on everything and everyone these days, and leave it to those clever folks on Reddit to come up with another interesting theory of what to expect, including a possible wedding. No, not the very obvious and likely wedding of Snow and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) that’s virtually promised by the title of the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, but a potential union or two that just might blindside GoT fans.

If you watched the Game of Thrones season finale — which you’ve hopefully done by now or certainly seen spoilers all over social media — you know that Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) has already let the cat out of the bag about Euron Greyjoy’s (Pilou Asbæk) plan try to marry the Mother of Dragons and eventually steal her kingdom and most likely her life. Sorry, Eurnerys/Daenon shippers, that’s not the rumored union in the making put forth by a crafty Reddit user named sam_stark, but we’re getting warmer and halfway right. With Daenerys unlikely to accept a proposal with that fresh intel from her new BFF Yara, Euron may need to seek a bride in a different Game of Thrones kingdom.

While Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) had a not-so-tempting offer from Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), her brother has now been named King of the North, so a marital union with her won’t bring a throne. Even if it did, it seems pretty fair to presume Sansa won’t be too anxious to tie the knot anytime in the near future or ever, judging from her past engagement and two marriages. When your best of three is marriage to a dwarf who graciously lets you escape consummation, you really probably ought to consider becoming a spinster. So Euron gains nothing on Game of Thrones by courting Sansa.

Let’s see, who else is single, and comes with a mighty big throne and kingdom? That’s right, the latest Game of Thrones superfan theory speculates that Euron and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) may be heading for a power hookup. Yeah, it sounds crazy at first, but hear this one out, Game of Thrones fans. Cersei may have the Iron Throne, but with Daenerys and her dragons coming from the south, and Jon Snow coming from the north, without some reinforcement, this would be one very quick battle. Enter Euron Greyjoy into the picture.

Once he finds out marriage to Daenerys is off the table, he could simply shift his plan over to Cersei, bringing her his fleet of 1,000 ships to convince her to marry him for the additional firepower she’ll need to defend King’s Landing. Then he can simply kill her and take the Iron Throne for himself. Presuming, of course, she doesn’t kill him first. Because let’s face it, Cersei won’t share her throne unless someone brings her some serious motivation to do so.

Sure, Euron has an army and ships, but that still seems a little light in bargaining power to get such a power-hungry character on Game of Thrones to share that throne. There is one other potential bargaining chip Euron may bring to the table to form an alliance with Cersei, not to mention unleashing a huge game changer in the final battle of Game of Thrones.

Those who have read the books know exactly where this is going. Those who haven’t read the books, here’s your big spoiler warning.

If the TV version of Game of Thrones takes a cue from the books, Euron may be able to neutralize that whole Dragon trump card Daenerys loves to play. According to International Business Times, in the books, Euron has a horn called the Dragonbinder which could make him the Master of Dragons and take them out of the upcoming battle equation. Or worse yet, turn them against the armies of Jon Snow and Daenerys. Think about what a game changer that would be for this huge battle in Game of Thrones.

Does that sound unlikely? If you Game of Thrones fans are thinking we haven’t seen any such horn yet, guess again.

Viewers have yet to see Euron with the horn, but IBT points out that it may have been introduced in an earlier season. When Sam (John Bradley-West) and some wildlings are digging in the frozen north, they come across some dragonglass. And oh, what is that mixed in with that dragonglass? Some kind of horn. While no one commented on the horn and Game of Thrones fans never saw what became of it, it’s likely it was the Dragonbinder and Sam still has it. While it’s harmless in Sam’s hands, if Euron gets his hands on it, we have a whole new ballgame in the last battle of Game of Thrones.

Don’t believe it? Here’s that horn revealed in the video below from Season 2, Episode 8:

Well done, Reddit user sam_stark. Someone get him (or her) a job in the writers’ room.
