Gwen Stefani Reveals How She Learned About Blake Shelton’s Divorce, Talks Missing Out On Dream Life

Gwen Stefani credits Blake Shelton for turning “hell” into hope in the wake of her divorce from Gavin Rossdale, and there’s certainly no shortage of love in the life of the popular musician and mother of three. However, the “Misery” singer admits that she can no longer have the life she always dreamed of.

During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Gwen Stefani opened up about the drastic ways her divorce has changed her life. She talked about how it helped her find a friend and a future in The Voice co-star Blake Shelton, but she also revealed that it dashed her dreams of having the same happy family life as her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Stefani celebrated their 50th anniversary this year, and this is a milestone that 46-year-old Gwen may never get to celebrate; her husband of 13 years dramatically decreased the chances of this happening when he cheated on Gwen with one of their children’s nannies.

Gwen Stefani has never admitted outright that the allegations about Gavin and the nanny are true. She says that she doesn’t share details about the demise of her marriage because of the effect her comments might have on her three sons with Gavin Rossdale, 10-year-old Kingston, 7-year-old Zuma, and 2-year-old Apollo.

“As a famous person, you start to think,’I can’t say all that because I’ll embarrass them or hurt them in some way.’ And especially now because they can see everything and hear everything,” Gwen explained.

However, when Gwen Stefani talks about her divorce, it’s clear that she didn’t want her marriage to end; she was devastated when she realized it was irrevocably over. According to Gwen, the exact date was February 9 of last year. Nine months later, Us Weekly would report that Gavin Rossdale had been cheating on her with a nanny named Mindy Mann for three years. A source told the tabloid that Gwen didn’t learn about the affair until February.

“My dreams were shattered,” Stefani said. “All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have. Then I remember thinking,’There’s gotta be a reason for this.’ Of course you go through the ‘Why me?’ and feel sorry for yourself.”

Gwen Stefani doesn’t talk about missing Gavin Rossdale when she speaks about the negative impact her divorce had on her life, and she’s pretty much proved that she’s over her ex by moving on with Blake Shelton. However, Gwen still can’t get over the sad fact that she can’t spend as much time with her sons now that her family is split.

“It was so insane because not only did my family break up, but then my kids are taken away like half the time, so that was really like, ‘What?! What did I do?'” Gwen said of her joint custody agreement with Gavin.

Loneliness was seemingly a big issue for Gwen Stefani in the early days after her divorce, which she described as “the beginning of hell.” In addition to missing her sons, she couldn’t talk to anyone about what she was going through because she was afraid of what her kids might hear. However, things changed when one of her fellow coaches on The Voice made a shocking announcement before a July 7 taping of the show.

“There I was with my big secret, right? And that’s when Blake was like,’ Everybody, before we go out there, I want to let everyone know that by the time this airs, I will be divorced.'”

Gwen Stefani revealed that she felt “exposed somehow” after hearing Blake Shelton reveal that he was in the same boat she was in, but she immediately seemed to know that his revelation about the end of his marriage to Miranda Lambert would bring her closer to him.

“But it was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time,” Stefani said. “And then it was just like everything flipped. It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and, like, ‘Wow, God, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen next.'”

As Entertainment Tonight reports, Blake Shelton said something similar about how much he valued having Gwen in his life while he was going through his divorce from Miranda Lambert. However, he didn’t call Gwen a “gift” during his interview with CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown — he called his girlfriend his life preserver.

“I tell people all the time, ‘Gwen saved my life last year,'” Blake Shelton said. “She did, and I think she would probably tell you something similar about me.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gwen Stefani has actually said the exact same thing about Blake Shelton. She might not have the life that she dreamed of, but at least Blake came along to ensure that it remains a happy one full of love.
