Palmdale: 3-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Pool During Fourth Of July Party

In a tragic incident, a 3-year-old boy from Palmdale, California died after he fell into a pool and drowned in the midst of a fourth of July celebrations party. According to ABC 7 News, the incident happened in the backyard of a home located in the 37700 block of 50th Street East, Palmdale in the evening of July 4. According to Ed Winter, an official from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, the boy was later identified as Joshua Boyd. Officials have not released the names of the parents of the child. The mother of the boy was in the home when the tragedy occurred.

While the exact circumstances of the incident remain shrouded in mystery at this time, initial reports say that the boy accidentally fell into the pool when everyone assembled for the party inside the home moved to a front yard from where they had a clear view of the Independence Day fireworks. The child, who was accompanied by his mother also moved with them. The boy, however, did not. A few minutes later, after realizing that her boy was missing, little Joshua’s mother started looking for him. To everyone’s horror, Joshua was found drowned in the backyard pool. He was immediately pulled out of the water. The boy was unresponsive when he was taken out of the water. His mother tried resuscitating him until emergency services arrived and took over.

According to officials from the local Sheriff’s office, Joshua was soon taken by ambulance to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead a few hours later. At this time, it is unclear how long Boyd was in the water before he was discovered.

The incident is still under investigation. People are, however, shocked by the incident with several people talking about the same on social media websites.

“How heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine how his mother must feel right now. I don’t blame her, with all those people around it’s hard to keep track on children especially that age when they are willing to discover everything. So sad.” a woman wrote in the comments thread of a newspaper reporting about the incident.”

Others, however, were not so supportive towards the mother and opined that she should have been more careful. Replying to the woman above, another person wrote the following.

“There is no excuse for this mother. If you have a toddler it is your responsibility to watch that child. Were the fireworks that important that she was out of touch with her child long enough for them to drown? I am tired of all the excuses people make for others. We have become the blameless society.”

The same sentiment was echoed by another person.

“Another negligent parent! Another toddler not being properly supervised! When are these people going to learn? Don’t leave a toddler alone! Not even for a second! Smh!”

There were others too, however, in support of the mother. This is what one of the supporters wrote.

“Yes, everyone, let’s blame the mother! Go get her! That’s exactly what she needs at this time.”

“You internet jackals disgust me.”

The news of this tragic drowning of a boy comes just a few days after we reported about several tragic cases of deaths involving children. Yesterday, too, we reported about the case of 8-year-old George Carter from Georgetown, Massachusetts, who lost his life after being trampled by a cow.
