Katie Holmes Takes Suri To Her First Day Of School, Tom Cruise Did Not Accompany His Daughter

Suri Cruise started school for the first time at the upscale Avenues School in the Chelsea section of New York City today. Katie Holmes was by her daughter’s side for what is typically an exciting, yet scary, endeavor for any child — but doting dad Tom Cruise was nowhere to be seen. Tuition for the first-grader to attend the Avenues School is $40,000 per year, according to Radar Online. Katie Holmes was make-up free during the chauffeured ride to Chelsea private school.

The Top Gun star’s daughter embellished her outfit with a pretty little pink backpack and matching bow. Unlike the actor’s two older children, Conner and Isabella, Suri will not be homeschooled or attend a Church of Scientology educational facility.

Concerns about the 50-year-old actor’s health are allegedly growing as new photos emerge of the recently single superstar. Images taken of the Vanilla Sky leading man while attending a performance at the Globe Theatre in London caused some to believe Cruise is merely a shadow of his former self, according to the Daily Mail. Although he has not lost his much admired muscle tone, the performer does appear to have lost a few move pounds from his already thin frame and face.

Making new friends and playing at recess may be quite a transition for little Suri. Fortunately, she is young enough that her peers will not likely be aware of the drama playing out in the media about her daddy’s Church of Scientology beliefs. Suri, just like the offspring of the average citizen, should not have to defend a parent’s actions while adapting to both life after a divorce and a cross-country move.
