Identical Twins Give Birth On Same Day At The Exact Same Time

Identical twins Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers will have an amazing story to tell their children when they are older.

The 35-year-old sisters grew up doing everything together, so it was no surprise when they found out they were pregnant at the same time and revealed their pregnancy news to each other and their families on the same day during a Thanksgiving dinner. However, no one expected that they would deliver their babies on the exact same day, let alone at the exact same time.

That’s right… the identical twin sisters not only gave birth on the same day, they welcomed their children at the EXACT same time in their respective cities, People Magazine reports. Both children were born on June 30 at 1:18 a.m. Leah and her husband Kyle welcomed their son Reid Joseph in Denver, Colorado, while Sarah gave birth to her daughter Samantha Lynne, in La Jolla, California with her husband Nick by her side.

“It’s that magical twin connection I suppose,” Mariuz said. “There have just been certain things in our life where things just match up – it’s odd. We didn’t plan being pregnant at the same time. But our journeys aligned, even giving birth! Twins have a special bond, it’s hard to explain.”

“We’ve always lived in separate places, but all of us — we have two sisters — are very close in age and very close,” Rodgers told Today. “But certainly there’s another connection at the twin level.”

Leah and Sarah both found out they were expecting in November and decided to share the exciting news with each other at a family gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving. They discovered that they were both due within four days of each other.

“I wanted it to be a surprise, but when she showed up at the door – it was the funniest thing – I opened the door, welcomed her into the home, but as soon as I saw her, I knew she was pregnant too,” Rodgers said. “I can’t explain it, I just knew. My prediction was that she was five days behind me, and it turned out her due date was four days after me.”

“I was like ‘Oh my gosh, shut up!’ ” Rodgers added of the moment she and her identical twin sister Mariuz exchanged their ultrasound pictures. “We stood there and giggled and our family was in complete shock. It’s just one of those things that’s totally possible, but when it’s confirmed, it’s so crazy.”

As expected, the sisters spent the next seven months enjoying their pregnancies together. Not only did they give each other daily updates, they also planned a joint pink and blue baby shower to celebrate their bundles of joy. While they knew their babies would be born within a few days of each other, they never in their wildest dreams would have thought they would have come on the same day, at the same time.

“When my sister’s husband got the text about Reed being born at 1:18 a.m. he apparently shouted at the doctors, he couldn’t believe it!” Leah recalled with a laugh. “It was literally the exact same time.”

“It’s just really special,” Mariuz addded. “I’m sure they will have a deep bond because of their birthday timing.”

Reid and Samantha haven’t officially met yet, but the identical twins know their children will have an instant bond just as they do.
