Emily Blunt And John Krasinski Welcome Second Daughter, Reveal Name On American Holiday
It looks like Emily Blunt and John Krasinski had a very exciting Fourth of July. The couple, who are already parents to daughter, Hazel, 2, announced on the American holiday that they welcomed their second daughter two weeks ago.
A proud papa for the second time around, John Krasinski announced on Twitter that the couple welcomed their second daughter, Violet, two weeks ago in his tweet, which radiated with happiness.
“What better way to celebrate the 4th… than to announce our 4th family member!!! 2 weeks ago we met our beautiful daughter Violet #Happy4th.”
We didn’t know when Emily Blunt was due to give birth, but we knew it was soon. Back in June, while attending the premiere of his new film The Hollars, Krasinski gave E! News a hint that little Violet was coming “soon-ish.”
At the time, he said, “We’re very excited,” adding that his wife, Emily, would be able to make it out for some red carpet events soon.
As for Emily Blunt, back in March of this year, she revealed the “joys” of motherhood. Blunt told C Magazine of how hectic it can be mothering 2-year-old Hazel while pregnant with her second baby. She also went on to explain the differences between the two pregnancies.
“The first pregnancy is the most self-indulgent thing in the world because you get massages and prenatal yoga and hypnotherapy CDs. During this one I forget that I’m even pregnant. I’m hoisting a 2-year-old around!”
Not only did she have to juggle raising her daughter and being pregnant with her second, but she also said that it was becoming more difficult to juggle being a mother and an actress.
“It’s quite a juggle with children, especially young children who are now able to vocalize, ‘Please don’t go.’ I don’t want to feel torn.”
Back in January, John Krasinski opened up about how fatherhood changed him. While at the Sundance Film Festival, Krasinski revealed that his new film The Hollars’ meaning shifted.
“I’ll be really honest and say that I had to sort of write to the script for a while, but my daughter was born in February and I think we started shooting in April. Those four months were a game change.”
He continued, “When you go through that existential crack that everybody goes through in a different way, but it is a moment and it is the moment that changes you in an enormous way. It’s the mirror being held up to you whether you like it or not. I related to my parents differently, I related to my brothers differently, I related to my friends differently so I came to that set with this whole new understanding of family.”
The couple announced that they were expecting their second child back in January. At the time, Blunt’s rep confirmed the exciting news to Us Weekly.
Although Emily kept it low-key and stayed out of the spotlight for the most part during her second pregnancy, she did get to show off her growing baby bump and her natural glow at the Met Gala back in May. Husband John Krasinski was nowhere to be found, but Blunt wasn’t alone as she hit the red carpet with friend and fellow pregnant celebrity Olivia Wilde, who announced via Instagram that she was expecting her second child. The two proudly showed off their bumps for all to see.

The two coordinated with Michael Kors dresses, wearing gowns that accentuated their pregnancies rather than gowns that hid them. Emily Blunt chose to wear a deep blue sequined gown.
