‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Fan Theories: Damon Dies Before Elena Wakes? Nina Dobrev’s Character The Villain?

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 returns in just a few months. Fans have been busy speculating on what will happen and some crazy theories have been circulating the Internet. One of those includes Damon Salvatore dying before Elena Gilbert wakes up. The other is that Nina Dobrev’s character may possibly return as a villain in TVD.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there are not many TVD spoilers available. Most of the information that has been revealed has to do with the creature that affected Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Since Damon is a fan favorite, everyone is worried about what will happen when The CW series premieres this fall.

With a lack of spoilers, fans have been coming up with their own ideas on what could happen when The Vampire Diaries returns with Season 8. According to International Business Times, one theory is that Damon may die before Elena (Nina Dobrev) wakes up. Anything is possible, but would the writers really do this? “Delena” fans wouldn’t be happy, that’s for sure. There are rumors that Ian Somerhalder is leaving after the Season 8 finale, but that has actually not been confirmed yet.

“… Last weekend I talked to an audience at a Q&A about the end of #TVD and how excited I was to make what I believe – my last year – be as great as possible,” Ian Somerhalder wrote on Twitter in April. “Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end. Cut too the press running stories that the show would be done after Season 8. Thing is, the people who actually make that decision (The CW and WB) haven’t made it yet! So let’s take things one step at a time: Season 7 wrap, vacation, lots of sleep, let the writers get started on Season 8, and then we’ll all see where we go from there. Until then, much love ;)”

Another theory for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 comes from a Facebook group for TVD fans. One of the members wondered if Nina Dobrev would not return as Elena or Katherine, but as the villain. This seems highly unlikely. The creature in the Vault is the villain of Season 8 and is alive and awake. Currently, Elena is in a deep sleep, unable to wake up until Bonnie dies in The Vampire Diaries. The monster did use Elena’s voice, but it was a trick, not a sign that it was actually Elena.

Recently, TV Line reported that a new character is being cast for TVD Season 8. Sybil has a character description that seems to suggest she may be the monster inside the Vault.

“[Sybil is] an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people,” TV Line teased, “manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification.”

To be fair, it was stated that Sybil might be both good and bad in The Vampire Diaries. However, the description sounds a lot like the creature inside the Vault that affected Damon and Enzo.
