Though some are concerned about the threat of rain, Tom Bergeron tweeted that the show will go on. In the case of extreme weather, however, there might be a change to the schedule.

Tonight’s broadcast of A Capitol Fourth marks the 36th annual show that is also heard in live, streaming stereo on NPR radio stations. While there are many who enjoy listening, nothing beats watching the amazing, firework display that takes place live. As many people are facing the possibility of being rained in tonight, the option to watch A Capitol Fourth live streaming ensures that no one has to forgo a splendid fireworks display on the Fourth of July.

In addition to the brilliant fireworks displayed that will burst over the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and the Washington Monument, tonight’s live stream features some special tributes.

First, in honor of the 75th USO anniversary, General Colin Powell will lead a tribute that recognizes the services the USO has provided to military men, women, and their families. Colin Powell released a statement regarding his involvement with A Capitol Fourth and the USO tribute.

“I am honored to be at our nation’s Capitol on Independence Day to pay tribute to the USO. In Vietnam, I remember waiting for Bob Hope to provide a bit of entertainment and relief for soldiers over there. I know firsthand how much the USO means to our military members serving around the world.”

Additionally, Gavin DeGraw will perform live the song “Soldier” to a crowd of active military personnel. Alisan Porter, who is the Season 10 winner of The Voice, will lead a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service during the Capitol Fourth live stream. Porter will sing “America the Beautiful” to a photo montage of some of America’s most beloved scenic sites, nature trails, and panoramic views.
