Watch July 4th Fireworks Live Online: Streaming Video For Boston Pops, Demi Lovato, And ‘Hamilton’ Performances

Viewers who want to watch July 4th fireworks live online are in luck, with plenty of options available for live streaming video for those who are stuck at work or get trapped in the house with bad weather.

The Fourth of July holiday is known for picnics and parties, but most of all, for fireworks. Nearly every municipality across the nation is holding some kind of display, and three of the largest will be available for streaming video online.

Across the entire United States, there will be a total of 285.3 million pounds of fireworks used, the American Pyrotechnics Association told USA Today. The majority of these — about 260.7 million pounds — will be used by individual consumers, but three of the biggest displays will be on television (and streaming video) on Monday night.

On PBC, A Capitol Fourth will feature a giant display at the nation’s capital, as well as performances from a host of stars, headlined by Hamilton’s Christopher Jackson. NBC will be showing the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, with performances from Kenny Chesney, 5 Seconds of Summer, Meghan Trainor, and many more. And on CBS, the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will show the nation’s leading pops orchestra, as well as a performance from Demi Lovato.

Broadcast times and links to streaming video for all three can be found below.

For Patriotic Americans who live in the Midwest, watching the July 4th fireworks live online might be the most realistic way to celebrate the nation’s birth. Severe weather with heavy rain is expected across much of the Midwest and Plains, with the potential for flash flooding that could wipe out planned celebrations for Independence Day. As NBC News noted, the inclement weather was spread across a wide area.

“Flash flood watches were in effect for other parts of the central Plains and mid-Mississippi Valley — including St. Louis and parts of Ohio, the Weather Channel added. “The storms will spread eastward on Monday into the mid-Atlantic — leaving Fourth of July festivities in flux.”

That could potentially put a damper on those looking to watch Fourth of July fireworks live online. There was initially some thought that heavy rain expected to hit the Washington, D.C., area could put the Capitol fireworks display in peril, but the forecast is now a little more optimistic.

“There could still be drops during the fireworks down on the Mall tonight, but the heaviest of the rain should be over,” Storm Team4 meteorologist Chuck Bell said on Monday morning (via NBC Washington).

But the National Parks Service was still following the forecast throughout the day and reserving the possibility of putting off the July 4th fireworks display — which would be the first time in 25 years that it would be canceled.

“Low visibility, high winds, heavy rain, thunder and lightning, obviously — if any of those things contribute and would mar the performance or put the safety of our employees or our visitors in danger, then we’d look at postponing or delaying the start of the show,” National Parks Service spokesman Mike Litterst said.
