Hailey Baldwin On Achieving Supermodel Status And Those Dating Rumors
It seems like Hailey Baldwin has been making headlines for her relationships rather than for her own modeling career. Now, the 19-year-old model is opening up about what it really takes to be a supermodel and those nonstop dating rumors.
Hailey Baldwin may look like the ultimate supermodel in her latest Instagram photo, but she reportedly doesn’t feel like one. She took to the social media app to post the latest photos from her Guess fall 2016 campaign, as reported by InStyle.
She also shared these stunning new photos from her editorial shoot with V magazine.
But, according to Hailey, she has a long way to go before she consider herself a supermodel. Hailey recently confessed to PeopleStyle that she doesn’t consider herself one, like her best friends Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.
“I’m not on the same level as Gigi and Kendall. We’re not in the same place in our careers. [I do] not ever consider myself a supermodel,” she added.
What Baldwin means is that she’s not walking down runways for big fashion houses such as Chanel and Balmain. And despite the fact that the trio were photographed in New York City last month, Baldwin says that she does not get to see Hadid or Jenner that often due to their busy work schedules.
Various ’90s models have been asked if Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid deserve the title of “supermodel.” Stephanie Seymour says that they should be referred to as “b****** of the moment,” to which Kendall took to her website and app to write a blog post on the subject. Hailey believes that any supermodels — young or old — shouldn’t be pit against each other, as quoted in the Daily Mail. Instead, the fashion industry should be supportive of both veteran and new models.
“No one is trying to disrespect the models from that decade and era, but they are the new faces of the modeling generation along with Karlie Kloss and other big supermodels. So, unfortunately, people can say what they want but they’re still gonna step on the same runways as any other big supermodel this day and age.”
Meanwhile, Baldwin has become the subject of dating rumors. It all started over Memorial Day weekend when she was spotted getting cozy with Drake at his bash. Then the two were spotted wearing matching necklaces, making fans wonder what’s going on between them. Apparently, the two are just friends since Drake and Rihanna have confirmed their relationship. Baldwin even addressed the rumors with E! News at the iHeart Radio Much Music Awards, calling the rapper a “great friend,” and nothing more.
“I’ve known [Drake] for a long time, I don’t know if people really know that,” she said on the red carpet. “I’ve known him for about like four years. He’s a great friend.”
Sources also told E! News that while the two looked cozy, there’s nothing romantic going on between them.
“They have always had a close friendship and similar group of friends. They are very playful with each other, but nothing romantic is going on at this moment.”
Meanwhile, another source confirmed to the outlet that Hailey is very much single, aside from her on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber, who she supposedly has strong feelings for. The Canadian pop star has been linked to Bates Motel actress Nicola Peltz.
“[Hailey] always has been such a good friend to him and she feels disrespected by many things he has done lately. She was very upset about the date that he just went on with Nicola. Hailey wants to be with Justin but he is just always back and forth with her and that drives her mad.”
Baldwin and Bieber have also been close friends for years. They ignited the romance rumors when they vacationed together in St. Bart’s for Christmas and New Year’s. They were also spotted together on various occasions, including in San Francisco back in February. Baldwin previously confirmed to E! News that the two are not an official couple. Bieber revealed to GQ in his cover story that Baldwin is a friend, but she is also “someone I really love.”
