Daniel Radcliffe Not Done With ‘Harry Potter’ But Will Not Watch ‘Cursed Child’ Just Yet

Our favorite Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe reveals he may not be done playing the role of Harry Potter just yet—but he probably won’t be coming to the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play on the London stage soon.

Even after Harry Potter closed its pages with “The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well,” Harry Potter fans all over the world just could not completely move on from the magical franchise that brought them on a roller coaster ride of emotions from the first Harry Potter and theSorcerer’s Stone book until the second installment of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie.

Like many Harry Potter fans, Harry Potter himself, actor Daniel Radcliffe, still couldn’t quite get over the whole experience that propelled him to fame and stardom. Daniel Radcliffe spent a decade playing Harry Potter, the boy who lived, across eight phenomenal films, so we can only understand how he never really completely got out of the character that he lived for most of his formative years.

In an interview with Radio Times, Radcliffe admits that he hasn’t really ruled out just yet playing Harry Potter again as an adult Harry.

It would depend on the script. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary.

However, he tries to spice things up a bit and adds the following.

“But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, ‘No,’ for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future.”

But while the original Harry Potter franchise have come to a close, fans are looking forward to a sequel play coming to the London stage on July 30, 2016. Entitled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the play takes on the story of an adult Harry Potter with his son, Albus Severus, woven together by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. The plot at the official Harry Potter and the Cursed Child website reads as follows.

“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

“While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

The London Play have cast different characters from the Harry Potter characters we have grown accustomed to. Radcliffe has confessed to being equally excited about the upcoming play but for him, truthfully, it’s going to be quite tricky to sneak into the play without people noticing him.

Of course, the original Harry Potter appearing on the play will cause huge, unwanted commotion that will both become extremely uncomfortable for the play actors and Radcliffe himself. This is the reason why he feels it will be weird for him to see the play.

“It would be [weird], but I don’t think actually because of the show. I think more because of the audience that will be sitting in it. I think that would be a very intense and possibly not relaxing experience for me.”

But he admits to Entertainment Weekly that, of course, he won’t be able to contain his curiosity for the upcoming play and will probably try to come and see the play incognito in the future.

“I really do want to know what the show’s like and what it’s about ’cause I’ve heard it’s great. To be honest, it seems like it’s going to run for years and years, so after the initial wave of Harry Potter fans has been in and gone maybe I’ll sneak in.”

Daniel Radcliffe has also done a number of movies outside the Harry Potter franchise. Some of his most popular ones were December Boys, Trainwreck, Swiss Army Man, and Now You See Me 2.
