Kelly Dodd’s Violent Past Revealed, ‘RHOC’ Star Has Tumultuous Past With Husband

Kelly Dodd is the newbie housewife on the Real Housewives of Orange County. She was brought on by Meghan King Edmonds who was the newbie last season. Despite Edmonds’ best efforts to keep Dodd away from Vicki Gunvalson, her plan backfired. Kelly reached out to Gunvalson and the two hit it off, angering the other ladies. Dodd’s marital issues were briefly discussed last week, but now, the severity of things has come to light.

When it was announced that Kelly Dodd was joining the Real Housewives of Orange County, there was some negative press released about her. It was revealed that Heather Dubrow was not impressed with her and was uncomfortable with some of the things she said. Unfortunately, that isn’t the worst of things. According to All About the Tea, Kelly Dodd has violent tendencies. Her husband, Michael Dodd, filed a restraining order against her in 2014. After filing the initial paperwork, he also asked for an order of protection with no contact with his wife. In conjunction with her arrest, Kelly Dodd had to complete 10 AA sessions and six months of therapy. Once she had completed her requirements, the protective order was dropped. That occurred in February 2015, and the Dodds reconciled.

It was also revealed that Kelly Dodd filed for divorce in 2012. After two years of separation and attempting to move forward with the dissolution of marriage, Dodd reconciled with her husband. They had discussed keeping their family together and agreed to try again. The domestic violence arrest would occur sometime after the reconciliation, and made their marital issues clear to those around them. Dodd was likely intoxicated during the time of the altercation because she was ordered to attend 10 AA classes. Clearly, that did not hinder Dodd in her drinking because since appearing on the Real Housewives of Orange County, she has been drinking with the ladies.

Vicki Gunvalson has been appreciative of the open reception given to her by Kelly Dodd. The two have become good friends since filming on the Real Housewives of Orange County. After seeing how the other women treated Gunvalson on Heather Dubrow’s cruise, Dodd was not impressed. When she admitted to the ladies that she had met with Vicki, they were disgusted. Meghan King Edmonds had warned Dodd about getting involved, and it looks like there will be plenty of drama this season because of it. She couldn’t sit back and watch everyone be rude and cold to one person, so Dodd reached out and decided to advocate for Gunvalson.

People aren’t always who they appear to be, and Kelly Dodd is a perfect example. From what has been learned on the Real Housewives of Orange County, one would believe Michael Dodd is the issue in their marriage. Kelly compared him to Hitler during Meghan King Edmonds’ kitchen demo, which was a little bizarre. In fact, the Dodd family dynamic is a bit on the odd side. The Dodds have one daughter together, and both have varying opinions on how to raise her. As the season progresses, this will likely be shown more. Fans only got to see a few interactions between Dodd and her husband, Michael, in the first two episodes.

Heather Dubrow is not keen on Kelly Dodd, and that was reported during filming. She was uncomfortable with comments being made by Dodd and being associated with this woman because of the show. While Dodd hasn’t done anything too outrageous on the Real Housewives of Orange County yet, her past indicates she isn’t as innocent as she appears. Kelly Dodd is going to stir up trouble this season and it looks like the other ladies aren’t impressed.
