‘Alaskan Bush People’ Ditch Alaska Again! Was It To Avoid Reuniting Ami With Her Family?

So the Alaskan Bush People cast just ditched Alaska — again! Hat tip to the Inquisitr writer Alycia Ancell, who previously reported the story. Even Radar Online, a gossip site that exposed the Browns as trading Browntown for cushy hotel rooms, somehow missed the “Wolf Pack” beating a hasty retreat from their cozy hotel digs.

So what on Earth would inspire the Alaskan Bush People stars to suddenly head to Hawaii of all places? It’s entirely possible that the trip was timed to avoid an on-camera confrontation between the Brown family and mother Ami’s estranged family.

By the way, in case you doubt that reality TV’s favorite “bush people” are in Hawaii right now.

The above image is originally from Instagram and features Alaskan Bush People cast members Rain, Snowbird, and Noah posing with a Hawaiian local. The woman’s very account name (skinelegancemaui) gives away the fact that the Browns in Hawaii.

Why are the Browns in Hawaii? Well, there are a couple of theories.

The first is that the Browns fled to Hawaii knowing that it would be virtually impossible for Ami Brown’s family to reach them there. The Bransons had recently informed various gossip sites that they’d been reaching out to the Alaskan Bush People stars for weeks. It was all in an effort to reunite Ami Brown with her 89-year-old mother, Earlene “MeMaw” Branson.

MeMaw hasn’t seen her daughter in over thirty years. Unlike the forced storyline involving Billy’s eldest daughter Twila Wilson, this lost connection has been confirmed as a legitimate one.

The planned reunion could have proven a highly problematic affair for Alaskan Bush People as the Bransons made it very clear they intended to document the meeting. It’s one thing if producers and editors for the reality TV show are exclusively responsible for obtaining footage; it’s another thing altogether if the in-laws were to share the unedited clips with the Internet.

Alaskan Bush People fans are already claiming there’s no way the Browns knew the Bransons were coming and that the Hawaii trip was a well-timed coincidence. That’s entirely possible, however, there are factors that make it unlikely. For instance, Matt Brown’s crucial trip to rehab. As previously reported, Matt’s struggles with alcoholism forced him to leave his family and check into a treatment center.

That sad situation might be what encouraged the Browns to head to Juneau in the first place. Although frequently seen without Matt, the Alaskan Bush People clan’s “stick together” motto would suggest they’d want to be as close to him as possible.

What would have made the Browns ditch both Alaska and a troubled Matt? A game-changing on-camera reunion that would have likely raised serious questions about Billy’s marriage to Ami — and whether or not he’s the controlling, manipulative abuser that Ami Brown’s family claims he is.

Ami’s brother Les Branson had previously spoken out, as reported by Reality TV Scandals, about the alleged isolation tactics used by Billy to keep his wife away from her family for about 30 years. It had gotten to the point where a state trooper was sent to Alaska to check on her welfare, asking if she was an abuse victim — something the Alaskan Bush People star adamantly denied.

There’s an alternate and far less nefarious explanation for the surprise vacation: Filming purposes. It’s highly likely the family’s special trip to Hawaii will be featured in a future episode of Alaskan Bush People. That was the case with the family’s California visit. At the time, Billy reportedly wanted to leave their gloomy situation in Seattle, Washington behind; a sudden road trip seemed a perfect excuse.

With eldest son Matt Brown in rehab, a similarly depressing scenario might have inspired yet another need for the “Wolf Pack” to make a planned getaway. If so, we can probably expect to see hilarious attempts at surfing at hula dancing to offset the void created by Matt’s absence.

So if the getaway was planned in advance as a coping tool, it’s possible the Browns had already made arrangements before ever hearing the Bransons were coming to Alaska.

Wondering how these “struggling bush people” found the money to pay for a trip to Hawaii in the middle of peak season? The Browns are reportedly being compensated by the Discovery Channel for appearing on TV. It would certainly explain how the Alaskan Bush People cast paid for their Hawaiian vacation despite owing the state of Alaska close to $20,000.
