Zlatan Ibrahimovic Finally Signs For Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has brought to an end a transfer saga that has been unfolding now for close to two months. The Swedish striker has finally confirmed that he will be joining Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, which had long been assumed by football fans across the world.

Ibrahimovic was confirmed as a Manchester United player on Friday afternoon by the club, who took great joy in showcasing the attributes that Ibrahimovic possesses, as well as his impressive stats, while at the same time they simply revelled in having him on his books.

It’s understandable that Manchester United fans are rather happy to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a Red Devils shirt. In the last 10 seasons, Ibrahimovic has won his domestic title in every single campaign, bar one, during the 2011/2012 season with AC Milan. Overall, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has won 13 league titles in his career, while, since 2001, he has won at least one trophy in every season.

While some skeptics have raised questions over the signing because Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now 34 years old, and in fact he’ll turn 35 in October, these have been quashed because of the fact that the Swede actually had his best campaign ever last season. Not only did he score 50 goals in just 51 matches for PSG, but he also scored 38 of those in Ligue 1 alone.

But scoring goals is something that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has done for fun throughout his career. The talismanic forward has actually notched 392 goals in 677 games during his career, while he has also been capped 116 times by Sweden, too, during which time he scored 62 goals.

Following Sweden’s poor performance at Euro 2016, which saw them finish last in their group that consisted of Belgium, Ireland, and Italy, Ibrahimovic announced his international retirement.

Alongside the various pictures of Ibrahimovic finally signing his contract with Manchester United, the Swede took to the club’s website to speak about his excitement at finally being on the Old Trafford roster.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United and am looking forward to playing in the Premier League,” Ibrahimovic stated. “It goes with saying that I cannot wait to work with Jose Mourinho once again. He is a fantastic manager and I am ready for this new and exciting challenge. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career so far and have some great memories. I am now ready to create more special memories in England.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho previously worked together at Inter Milan, where during their one season together they led the team to the Serie A title. After Ibrahimovic was sold to Barcelona, he insisted that he’d once again work with the Portuguese coach, and that premonition has now come true.

Speaking at the unveiling of Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a Manchester United player, Jose Mourinho remarked, “Zlatan needs no introduction. The statistics speak for themselves. Ibra is one of the best strikers in the world and a player who always gives 100 per cent. He has won the most important league championships in the world of football, now he has the opportunity to play in the best league in the world and I know he will grasp this opportunity and will work hard to help the team win titles. I am certain that his talent will delight fans at Old Trafford next season and that his experience will be invaluable in helping to develop the younger players in the squad.”
