Which ‘Harry Potter’ Villain Is Joining ‘The Flash’ For Season 3?
A little bit of magic is coming to The Flash in Season 3. TV Line is reporting that former Harry Potter star Tom Felton will join the CW’s hit show next season as a regular.
Who is Felton playing on The Flash?
The Harry Potter is set to portray Julian Dorn on the show. Dorn is a new CSI at Central City Police Department who believes Barry Allen has a few secrets to hide.
Felton rose to stardom as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise. The British actor was part of all eight films in the series, from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Apart from his movie credentials, Felton appeared on TNT’s Murder in the First and worked on both Full Circle and Labyrinth.
Although details about Felton’s new role are slim, Grant Gustin recently confirmed the show’s plans to feature the Flashpoint plot in Season 3.
“We’re definitely doing this [Flashpoint] thing our own way… This will be its own thing,” he stated.
According to Coming Soon, Flashpoint was a major storyline in the comics and features an alternate reality that only Barry knows about. As fans will recall, Barry traveled back in time at the end of Season 2 and prevented the Reverse Flash from killing his mom.
In the comics, this decision has major implications in Barry’s world. For starters, Captain Cold is now a famous hero in Central City instead of a villain. The Justice League never formed, and Wonder Woman’s team of Amazonians is at war with Aquaman and his Atlanteans.
Bruce Wayne died in place of his parents and never became Batman. Instead, his father is the caped crusader while his mother is the Joker. Finally, Superman was locked up by the military and hasn’t been seen in years.
Of course, it isn’t clear how many of these stories will be included on The Flash, especially since most of these characters have not been introduced.
However, many of Barry’s friends will likely undergo a lot of changes in the coming year and might appear completely different this time around. This includes Iris West (Candice Patton), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramo (Carlos Valdes), Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), and Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh).
For his part, Felton’s character is expected to appear in the first part of Season 3. It isn’t known how long he will be a part of the show.
Meanwhile, Movie News Guide reports that Patton recently offered a glimpse at what is ahead in the new season of The Flash.
“You know, Barry’s obviously gone back in time to save his mom and we know about time travel, that when you do that, things shift and change, so it’ll be interesting to see how his relationships with everyone has shifted, if and when he decides to come back to the timeline we all know and love,” she stated.
Whatever ends up happening, Patton assured fans that Iris will always be around to support Barry. That being said, it is possible that Barry and Iris finally get together. After all, Iris finally admitted her love for Barry at the end of Season 2. Depending on how the new timeline evolves, however, it is possible that their relationship is negatively affected by the shift.
At the same time, fans can also expect the show to introduce a number of different villains in Season 3. Unfortunately, it isn’t known which villains will make an appearance.
