JoJo Fletcher’s ex-boyfriend isn’t happy about his portrayal on The Bachelorette.
Chad Rookstool dated Fletcher before her appearance on The Bachelor, and then again after Ben Higgins dumped her. Now, according to In Touch Weekly, Rookstool claims Fletcher lied about their romance.
Rookstool allegedly rekindled his relationship with Fletcher following her exit from The Bachelor. However, he says that Fletcher dumped him to be on The Bachelorette.
Of course, Fletcher denied that she got back with Rookstool during an episode of The Bachelorette. To say Rookstool was unhappy is an understatement.
“Chad is pissed off,” an insider shared.
In order to appease her ex-boyfriend, Fletcher texted him and blamed everything on the show.
“She blamed it all on producers,” the source revealed. “But she’d better be careful because Chad still has all the texts from her – and he’s willing to use them against her to prove she’s lying!”
That being said, Wet Paint is reporting that Fletcher admitted that she hung out with Rookstool before The Bachelorette.
However, she didn’t want to rekindle a romance with Rookstool and was just being friendly. Apparently, Rookstool misinterpreted Fletcher’s intentions.
According to Romper, Rookstool was the one who pushed for a relationship with JoJo Fletcher after The Bachelor. He went as far as leaving her roses and even wrote her a letter during the hometown date with Higgins.
Once Higgins chose Lauren Bushnell in the finale, Rookstool pursued Fletcher once again. Rookstool claims that Fletcher wasn’t really in love with Higgins and was just putting on a show for television.
“JoJo told me, ‘Chad, come on, you know it was TV,'” he stated. “I think she just got sucked up in the show rather than actually trying to have legit feelings.”
Rookstool went on to say that Fletcher isn’t right for The Bachelorette.
“It’s hard for me to picture her as The Bachelorette and finding someone else because she’s a big part of my life and my best friend, but I’m not going to wait for her,” he explained.
According to Carter Matt, Fletcher has since responded to Rookstool’s comments. Along with denying their validity, Fletcher admitted that the comments hurt.
“The moment I read that magazine article, I could barely breathe. Chad and I dated for years, and we shared so many good times,” Fletcher explained. “But we broke up. And that break up was hard on both of us.”
Fletcher also revealed that her time with Higgins enabled her to move on. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Rookstool, who still wanted Fletcher back.
“It was no different when I came home after the season. He was hurting, and it pained me for him to be in so much pain,” she added.
To help Rookstool, Fletcher decided to hang out with him and restore their friendship.
“When I left for The Bachelorette, I thought we were in a good place. I thought we were back to being just friends. But seeing that article, reading that he questioned my intentions for doing this, it just hurt me so much,” she said.
Despite spending time with Rookstool, Fletcher revealed that she never had any romantic intentions.
“I did spend time with him, but it was never with any intention of rekindling a romantic relationship,” she noted.
Given Rookstool’s feelings for Fletcher, it makes sense that he would lash out. After all, it can’t be easy seeing her with so many guys on The Bachelorette and knowing that she might marry one of them.
Fans can watch Fletcher find love when new episodes of The Bachelorette air Monday nights on ABC.
