As Attorney General Loretta Lynch faces media speculation about her encounter with Bill Clinton. Donald Trump takes to Twitter to blast Hillary Clinton and flirts with conspiracy theories about the Clinton-Lynch meeting.
The presumptive nominee Donald Trump tweets: “Bill Clinton’s meeting was a total secret. Nobody was to know about it but he was caught by a local reporter.”
CNBC reports that Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch ran into each other at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport on Money this week.
The chance encounter raises eyebrows because Lynch is the Attorney General overseeing the current FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as the U.S Secretary of State. Lynch is primarily responsible for deciding the outcome of the probe into Hillary Clinton’s emails.
Loretta Lynch acknowledged the meeting and told reporters that the Hillary Clinton investigation was not discussed during their encounter. Bill Clinton is said to have approached the Attorney General to say hello.
Lynch while speaking to reporters stated:
“I did see President Clinton at the Phoenix airport as I was leaving, and he spoke to myself and my husband on the plane. Our conversation was a great deal about his grandchildren. It was primarily social and about our travels.”
Before taking to Twitter, Donald Trump had an interview on the Mike Gallagher Show to express his opinion:
“I think it’s so terrible, I think it’s so horrible, I think it’s the biggest story, one of the big stories of this week of this month of this year,” Trump stated Thursday on the Mike Gallagher radio show.
“You know, I’ve been talking about the rigged system, how it’s rigged and you know this is terrible and you don’t understand why nothing has happened. You see a thing like this and, even in terms of judgment, how bad of judgment is it for him or for her to do this? Who would do this? And I think it’s a massive story now, it’s all over the place.”
Donald Trump is consistently behind Hillary Clinton in recent polls and will be looking for ways to close that gap coming into the general election. Trump has also toned down his stance on Muslims entering the United States. He has recently suggested targeting Muslims from “areas of the world where there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe, or our allies,” Trump said during a speech.
Donald Trump is also reportedly considering New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are among the finalists to be Donald Trump his Vice President. Trump previously stated that he will select a running mate with political experience.
Donald Trump also has to unite his Republican party, and the right Vice President could do the trick.
Trump has not shied away from using Bill Clinton’s past to attack Hillary Clinton. The Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton meeting is an event Trump will use to further his cause and the notion that the elections is rigged.
Barack Obama recently attacked Republican policies as being responsible on the rise of Trump and mentions Paul Ryan’s conservatism:
“Partly in reaction to my presidency and the political decisions that they made, they find themselves having created an atmosphere in which even somebody like Paul Ryan is viewed as not sufficiently conservative. Or if he does just some of the basic work of governance that somehow he has betrayed the base and is decried as a Republican in name only.”
Obama whose approval rating has reach a high 56 percent believes Donald Trump will lose and his political campaign will become a distant memory:
“We may look back at something like the Trump campaign as the last vestige of a kind of politics of ‘us versus them’ that really doesn’t apply to today,” Obama stated.
