Katie Holmes Makes First Official Public Appearance Since Divorce

Katie Holmes is starting to open up since her summer divorce from Tom Cruise, giving her first interview and now appearing at an official public function for the first time.

She appeared at New York Fashion week, presenting an award to designer Carolina Herrera at the 2012 Style Awards, Reality TV Magazine reported.

Katie Holmes, a hot topic for tabloids and paparazzi in New York since her divorce with Tom Cruise, has been integrating herself more deeply into the world of fashion. She had been a guest judge on Project Runway and was recently selected to be the first celebrity endorser of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

The 33-year-old Holmes will appear in print ads and displays in spring 2013 for Bobbi Brown, who will be the lead makeup artist for Katie Holmes’ clothing line, Holmes & Yang, The Associated Press reported.

“This all came together eight weeks ago, when Katie and I were introduced by a mutual friend,” Brown said. “We had tea in the afternoon, and we bonded. And then it was, ‘Oh, my God, you would be the perfect face for Bobbi.”

Brown said they weren’t necessarily looking for a celebrity spokesperson, but Katie Holmes was a perfect fit.

“We weren’t looking for a celebrity, just a cool, amazing woman who would fit with our brand,” Brown said. “And she’s just ridiculously, naturally beautiful.”

The endorsement with Bobbi Brown fits in with Holmes’ own fashion philosophy.

“You want the hair and makeup to support the woman, just like you want the clothes to support the woman,” Katie Holmes said. “You don’t want to lose the woman. That’s how Jeanne and I design.”

Katie Holmes has more public appearances lined up once fashion week is over. This fall she will be appearing on Broadway in Theresa Rebeck’s five-character play Dead Accounts. She also shot an adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull recently.
