‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: What Does That Jon Snow Twist Mean For The Show?

Game of Thrones fans are still reeling from that epic Season 6 finale last week, and it seems everyone is talking about what lies ahead in Season 7. One hot topic of conversation is that big Jon Snow twist that many loyal viewers saw coming.

According to Vanity Fair, Game of Thrones finally confirmed that Jon Snow is not the illegitimate child of Ned Stark, but actually the son of Ned’s beloved sister, Lyanna Stark. This was confirmed by a scene in which Bran Stark revisits the Tower of Joy and sees Ned discover that his sister is dying from a complicated childbirth. Lyanna makes Ned promise to take care of, and protect, her child for fear that Robert Baratheon will kill him.

While some viewers may have been confused about who Jon Snow’s biological father is, there is no confusion now. HBO released an infographic revealing important information, such as the parentage of the many of the Game of Thrones characters, and it confirms that Jon Snow’s parents are in fact, Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, who is Daenerys’ older brother.

What does this shocking new information mean for the future of the Game of Thrones storyline? That is the question that all the fans seems to be asking following the Season 6 finale.

Many viewers think that Jon Snow is the re-incarceration of Azor Ahai, who is said to “be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone.” Melisandre, who once believed Stannis Baratheon could have been the chosen one, now believes that it is Jon Snow. However, some fans can make a strong case that Daenerys is Azor Ahai.

Meanwhile, Many Game of Thrones theorists believe that once Jon Snow discovers the truth about his parentage, he will finally come face to face with Daenerys Targaryen, who, as far as fans know, is the only other living member of his father’s family. This could mean that Daenerys and Jon could rule the seven kingdoms together with fire and ice.

However, there is another popular theory that Game of Thrones fans have not forgotten about, and it includes a third member of the Targaryen family. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there is a long-standing rumor that Tyrion Lannister may also be related to Daenerys.

The theory suggests that Tyrion may actually be Dany’s older brother. The reasoning behind the rumor is that in the book series, Dany’s father, the Mad King Aerys, attended the wedding of Tyrion’s parents, Tywin and Joanna Lannister. During the celebration, he made a comment about how it was a shame the tradition of the king bedding the new bride first was outdated. Could Aerys have reinstated that tradition and conceived Tyrion with Joanna on her wedding night to Tywin?

Game of Thrones viewers know that Tyrion has never really fit in with his family. Besides the fact that he’s a dwarf, he has a pure heart and a cool head, which is not something the rest of the Lannister family possesses. Now that Tyrion and Daenerys have gotten together, and he is serving as her official hand of the queen, it seems that all the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

Fans who believe that this theory is true fully expect to witness Daenerys, Jon, and Tyrion all coming together as a family to ride Dany’s dragons and rule the seven kingdoms together, as the three of them make up quite a perfect monarchy.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of the Targaryen family growing? Do you think Jon Snow and Daenerys will rule together when Game of Thrones ends?
