Jennifer Garner And Ben Affleck: One Year Later, The Split Couple Is Making It Work, Divorce Off?

After a trying year for the former star couple, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are making their current relationship as amicable parents to their three children work, despite not having officially divorced yet.

Jen and Ben went public with their split exactly one year ago and a media storm ensued as speculations about a nanny scandal and alcohol abuse on the part of Ben became the focus of the split. The couple, who were married for nearly 10 years, have since lived on the same grounds while continuing to raise their three adorable little ones, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4.

A source spoke with Entertainment Tonight on the status of Jen and Ben’s pending divorce.

“They still have not officially filed paperwork for a divorce. [They] don’t know if that will ever happen.”

After a recent family trip to Europe, where the stars seemed to be happy and getting close to one another, an interview Ben gave within which he referred to Garner as “his wife,” also caused rumors to fly that a divorce may not even happen. Ben went on to state that he and Jen are “making it work,” in an interview on HBO.

The duo has clearly settled in nicely to their new life as co-parents and a new normal. Jen jokingly referred to their difficult year as “the year of wine,” in an interview with Vanity Fair.

One year ago, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck shocked fans when they released a joint statement announcing that they were ending their 10-year marriage. ET reminds of their words.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”

Prior to this point, rumors had been flying that an end for the pair’s marriage was approaching. Although “nanny-gate” was given the spotlight as reason for the split, in an interview Garner gave, she states that the two had been split long before talk of the nanny even arose. Chatting with Vanity Fair, Jen elaborated on the fall out between she and Ben long before Christina Ouzounian’s name was even mentioned.

“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.”

Since the scandal was a hot topic back in July of 2015, Ouzounian has reportedly gotten close with her former fiance, Christopher Albury. A source shares how after all the drama that surrounded Jen and Ben, it’s interesting how the two stars seem to have just fallen back into normal life as if nothing occurred.

“It’s really strange. It’s like they’ve just gone back to normal and the Ben stuff didn’t even happen.”

The couple, as noted, has maintained a cordial and amicable demeanor in public and while around their 3 children. Although the pair have been split for a year, Affleck still resides on the property with his family in the guest house. A source reported on this to ET.

“He still lives on the property in Brentwood, California, but in separate living quarters.”

It’s clear that this new normal is working for Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, who have each in separate interviews, stated that they still love one another. The pair have not shared about where they intend to go from here and as to if a divorce is still the next step for them.
