Many Duggar fans have speculated that Jill Dillard is pregnant with the couple’s second child. However, without a formal pregnancy announcement, the speculation was nothing more than a rumor. It seems that Jill and Derick Dillard are finally wanting to put the rumors to rest and have publicly addressed the issue.
Jill and Derick Dillard are currently working with S.O.S. Ministries in Central America. The Duggars are known for their large families and shunning of birth control in a bid to allow God to determine their ideal family size. However, with the Zika virus a concern in Central America, some have wondered if Jill is following CDC recommendations not to get pregnant while in the country due to the risk of microcephaly.
It appears that fans can rest easy for the time being as the Duggar family has announced that Jill Dillard is not pregnant. The Duggar Family Blog notes that Jill is not pregnant at this time but does speak about the couple’s future hopes to grow their family. The blog notes that while Jill is not pregnant right now, the couple is hopeful about future pregnancies and Jill’s ability to give birth vaginally despite her previous c-section.
“In April 2015, fans have been eagerly awaiting another pregnancy announcement from Jill and Derick Dillard. Soon after her son’s arrival, Jill told PEOPLE Magazine that her doctor expected her to be able to deliver her next child vaginally. Are there any Dillard babies on the way? Jill and Derick recently shared that they are not expecting…yet.”
Jill and Derick reportedly told the blog that though they are not currently expecting, their hearts have been more open to adoption since moving to Central America.
Although Jill is currently not pregnant, the Dillards did not say if they are trying to conceive or if they have taken measures to ensure Jill does not become pregnant while in Central America. The Duggar family appears to be opposed to all forms of birth control, including natural family planning and celibacy, as Michelle Duggar has noted in the past that a woman must be open and ready to provide for her husband sexually at all times.
People Magazine reported on Michelle Duggar’s advice for newlywed women. Michelle informed wives that they must be “joyfully available” sexually to their husbands at all times, including during pregnancy. Michelle called sex a husband’s “special need” and tells women that it is their responsibility to ensure that this need is met in a relationship.
“Be available, and not just available, but be joyfully available for him. Smile and be willing to say, ‘Yes, sweetie I am here for you,’ no matter what, even though you may be exhausted and big pregnant and you may not feel like he feels. ‘I’m still here for you and I’m going to meet that need because I know it’s a need for you.'”
Therefore, it is likely that Jill Dillard was given this same advice for her own marriage. This would mean that despite the Zika virus or other concerns regarding having additional children, Jill should be “joyfully available” to Derick at all times. Without birth control, this would mean that another Dillard baby could be on the way at any moment.
Meanwhile, fans have turned their attention to Jinger Duggar as she announced her courtship with Jeremy Vuolo. The couple will be featured on the upcoming season of Counting On as the cameras follow their courtship and potential future engagement.
Do you think that Derick and Jill Dillard could be swaying from traditional Duggar rules regarding birth control due to the Zika virus scare in Central America?
