Food blog network FoodBuzz raises $750,000

San Francisco based food blog network FoodBuzz has raised $750,000 in a proposed round of $1.25 million, according to an SEC filing lodged by the company August 7.

FoodBuzz is a blog network similar to Glam Media in that it primarily aggregates content from other sites, and offers advertising to network blogs. FoodBuzz claims to “aggregate, organize and curate more than 1 Million blog posts from 10,000 food blogs worldwide.”

The FoodBuzz network does 15.7 million visits a month on 7.6 millon uniques according to direct measure stats at Quantcast. Advertisers include Quaker, Contadina and Kikkoman.

There’s not a lot of public information available on the company, and Paid Content (who discovered the round) couldn’t find any extra info either. The stats though are impressive, and despite plenty of competition the vertical is one of the few spaces that may have survived the recession well; various reports suggest that with less money to spend, there has been a boom in home cooking, and FoodBuzz’s blogs would cater well to that demand.
