‘Glee’ Actor Mark Salling’s Child Porn Trial On Hold, Tries To Replace Lawyer

Glee actor Mark Salling’s trial has been put on hold while everything is put into motion with the replacement of his lawyer.

According to E!, the DA confirmed to the outlet that Salling has requested a new lawyer named Michael Proctor.

Currently, Salling is awaiting his trial to start, as he was recently charged with receiving and obtaining child pornography. As the Inquisitr reported, before the Glee star was arraigned, his laptop was seized late late year. It’s said that while Salling was arrested, officials found thousands of videos and images of children under 12 in sexual acts. A flash drive with images of “prepubescent minors” was also found.

When he was initially arrested, Salling’s bail was $20,000 so he was released from prison shortly after he was arrested. It’s said that Mark Salling’s ex girlfriend tipped off officials that he was obtaining child pornography on his computer. Once officials were tipped off, an investigation was opened and Salling’s house was raided.

When the actor was arrested in December, Radar Online spoke to his roommate’s brother about the situation, who expressed that this was Mark Salling’s full responsibility and whatever was found had nothing to do with his brother, who has been living with the Glee star.

“Everything was Mark’s. Everything was raided in Mark’s room and taken from there and had nothing to do with my brother. [Jonathan] wasn’t there when it happened. He’s surprised, but I think police interviewed him and asked him a lot of questions.”

When Salling was arraigned in court in May, the actor pled not guilty to the charges, but if convicted on both of these charges of possessing child pornography, he can spend up to 40 years in prison as each charge holds a max of 20 years. His minimum sentence is five years behind bars.

As it is, the U.S. attorney spoke about the case with sincerity when addressing the court.

“Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed and every time it is viewed.”

Even though Salling is still awaiting his trial, we have already seen major fallout for the actor. Fans have either turned against the Glee actor or have defended him. Additionally, Salling lost out on a recent acting job in Adi Shankar’s film Gods and Secrets. The indie film was recut to exclude Salling, who played a villain in the film. Salling’s scenes will be reshot and Shankar has vowed to pay for those scenes himself, and is donating some funds to a “charity for abused children.”

After the Glee actor was brought up on charges, Shankar wrote the following.

“Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in.”

When the news hit back in December, the director immediately said that if the allegations were true he would “immediately take action.”

“Today I was made aware of the serious allegations against Salling as a result of numerous media outlets hounding me as to whether he would remain in Gods and Secrets. I’m going to wait for all the facts to arrive and if in fact these allegations are true, I will immediately take action, which includes removing his scenes from the project.”

As we can see the director stood by his word.

The last updates that the Glee actor posted via social media is a few tweets about coachella back in April. Prior to that, he hadn’t updated his social media accounts since his arrest.
