Ben Higgins Explains Why He’s Not Watching JoJo Fletcher On ‘The Bachelorette’

Ben Higgins broke JoJo Fletcher’s heart last season of The Bachelor, when he told her he was falling in love with her — and then chose to propose to Lauren Bushnell. Ben, along with other stars of the show, are often told that they can’t share their feelings, because when they do, things get even more complicated. Ever since Higgins proposed to Lauren, the two have been super busy, and they are staying together to avoid falling victim to the reality television curse.

According to a new Wetpaint Entertainment report, Ben Higgins is now revealing that he and Bushnell are not watching JoJo’s journey on The Bachelorette. Many other Bachelor and Bachelorette stars are following JoJo’s journey, but Ben and Lauren are simply too busy. Plus, one can imagine that they are busy working on their new lives together.

“We actually haven’t been watching this season. Our life is really crazy. We travel all the time,” Ben Higgins revealed to People magazine after being asked if he and Lauren are currently watching this season of the Bachelorette, adding, “[The Bachelor] was so good to us, but I think, instead of consuming ourselves for the last month and the next couple of months with more Bachelorette stuff, [it’s important] that we kind of just step away and take time for each other.”

Since Ben Higgins told JoJo that he did love her, one can imagine that it would be awkward for Bushnell to watch Fletcher find love again, knowing that her future husband was crazy about this woman. It seems like the busy schedule is a great excuse for now.

But this couple is more busy, as they just announced their very own reality show. A few weeks ago, Ben Higgins announced that he would be starring in his own reality show with Lauren so fans can see what they are doing after The Bachelor. The show will be called Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After, and it will premiere on Freeform this fall. What are Higgins and Bushnell doing to avoid that reality television curse?

“Our main concern when the show came about was, ‘Well, is it going to take away from our relationship being a priority? Is it going to get in the way of that?'” Lauren explained of the decision to do a reality show, adding, “I think the reality show curse is nothing more than just there being so many distractions and then the relationship isn’t a priority. I think that for us, we really promised each other that that’s not going to be the case and we’re always going to put each other first.”

Ben Higgins is determined to put his relationship with Lauren first, so if this reality show ends up ruining them, you can expect them to quit the show.

“If that means taking a step away from something else, we’re going to do that. With that promise, I think it eased a lot of my fears and my worries, and same with Ben,” she revealed.

But just because Higgins and Bushnell are going back on television doesn’t mean they are giving up their dreams. While Lauren hasn’t really talked about what she wants to do, Ben Higgins has expressed an interest to get involved with politics. According to the Providence Journal, Higgins has hinted that he wants to get involved with local politics. This could be something that will be featured on Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After.

What do you think of Ben Higgins’ reasoning for not watching The Bachelorette? Are you surprised that they are not supporting JoJo Fletcher on her journey to find love?
