‘Game Of Thrones’ Spoilers: What Lyanna Stark Said To Ned, Plus The Truth About Jon Snow

Game Of Thrones spoilers are ahead. If you did not watch the Game Of Thrones finale or do not want any part of Season 7 ruined for you, please stop reading now.

The Game Of Thrones finale aired on Sunday night, continuing its near-perfect track record as far as finales go. The end of Season 6 may not have ended with a cliffhanger (like when Jon Snow was killed at the end of Season 5), but it definitely set up some major talking points for what is to come.

Perhaps one of the biggest plot advancements was that of Jon Snow’s storyline. It has long been suspected by fans that Snow was not the bastard child of Ned Stark. Many have believed the R+L=J theory for many years — that is, Rhaegar [Targaryen] plus Lyanna [Stark] equals Jon [Snow]. That was one twist that just about everyone was waiting for, and it finally proved true on the Game Of Thrones finale.

So what does this mean, exactly?

It means that Game Of Thrones spoilers have now been confirmed: Jon Snow is actually Khaleesi’s half-brother, essentially making him the “father of dragons.” Jon Snow, the new King of the North, doesn’t have Ned Stark’s blood running through his veins — as proclaimed by Iyanna Mormont — after all.

“Your son was butchered at the Red Wedding, Lord Manderly, but you refused the call. You swore allegiance to House Stark, Lord Glover, but in their hour of greatest need, you refused the call. And you, Lord Cerwyn, your father was skinned alive by Ramsay Bolton. Still, you refused the call. But House Mormont remembers. The North remembers. We know no king but the King in the North whose name is Stark. I don’t care if he’s a bastard. Ned Stark’s blood runs through his veins. He’s my king from this day until his last day.”

Another Game Of Thrones spoiler comes in the form of what Jon Snow’s mother, Lyanna Stark, says to her brother, Ned Stark, before she died. Just after giving birth to Jon, Lyanna was seen in bed, bleeding profusely. She was begging her brother Ned to care for her newborn son and begging him to protect him.

According to Bustle, there were whispers from Lyanna to Ned that could have revealed another major piece to the Jon Snow puzzle. Many are wondering if Jon’s real name is something else.

Here is what Bustle believes Lyanna whispers to Ned Stark.

“No, no water. Listen to me, Ned. His name is… if Robert finds out, he’ll kill him. You know he will. You have to protect him. Promise me, Ned. Promise me.”

Now, the question is, what is Jon Snow’s real name? Could Lyanna have been trying to tell Ned that her son is a Targaryen? Could she have told her brother that she named her son something other than his known name, “Jon”? This is what fans will be looking forward to in Seasons 7 & 8.

Game Of Thrones Season 7 spoilers include the death of one major character: Cersei Lannister. According to The Telegraph, Cersei will meet her maker in one of the upcoming episodes. Question being, of course, is who will be the one to kill Cersei? It could be Arya Stark or her brother Tyrion. However, many are now wondering if it could be her very own brother-lover, Jamie Lannister.

“Maggy foretells that Cersei will have three children and that she’ll be forced to watch all of them die before her – a prophecy that was proved true in the season six finale, when poor disillusioned Tommen, her last surviving child, jumped to his death. But in the books, there’s a second part to the prophecy, which alludes to Cersei’s own death: strangled at the hands of somebody referred to as ‘the Valonqar.’ In the Game Of Thrones world, Valonqar is a Valyrian word meaning ‘little brother’ or possibly (we don’t know all that much about the language) a more gender neutral ‘younger sibling.’ In this case, Cersei’s younger brother Tyrion could well be the man. But, many fans have pointed out, Jaime could also be a contender: while he and Cersei are twins, it has been established that Jaime was born after his sister, meaning that he is still her younger sibling.”

Game Of Thrones fans will have to wait about 10 months before the new season begins. Spring 2017 is the projected premiere time for Season 7.
