‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Is Sybil The Monster Affecting Damon And Enzo? [Theory]
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will be an interesting one, especially with a new mystery creature taking over Damon and Enzo. Recently, there were some cast announcements, and it turns out to expect yet another new character. Who is Sybil, and why is she so important?

According to TV Line, TVD is casting for “Sybil.” The character will appear in The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premiere and seems quite dangerous. There appear to be a few clues on who or what Sybil is.
First, the timing of her first appearance is important. Since the Season 7 finale ended with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) on a murdering spree, it only makes sense that it will pick up soon after. This was confirmed a few weeks ago, and the TVD Season 8 premiere will have a short time jump of a few months. Second, the character description sounds quite similar to the creature inside the Vault.
“[Sybil is] an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people,” TV Line wrote, “manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification.”
As TVD fans know, the creature inside the Vault is thousands of years old and has some sort of psychic abilities. Executive producer Julie Plec previously revealed that the mystery creature is able to get inside people’s heads. It did this with Damon Salvatore and as previously speculated by The Inquisitr, was able to mimic Elena Gilbert’s (Nina Dobrev) voice. Even though it was not possible for Elena to be inside the Vault, the monster knew Damon couldn’t resist and it was right.
It performed this trick once before and Bonnie (Kat Graham) was told about it when she visited the psychiatric hospital. The creature was even able to use other’s voices to call out “for help” through walls.
Sybil is powerful and controls others, according to the spoiler report. It is clear that the monster in the Vault does the same thing. In fact, it was able to completely take over Damon and Enzo to the point that nobody knows if the missing vampires are even capable of being saved.

If my theory is correct and Sybil is the mystery creature in The Vampire Diaries, then why is it taking over human beings and immortal entities, like vampires? The character synopsis states that Sybil manipulates others, puts them through twisted games for her own enjoyment. So, there really is no purpose. Sybil took away Damon and Enzo from Bonnie just for fun.
Besides Sybil on The Vampire Diaries, what else is known about Season 8? Kristen Gutoskie of Containment was cast in The Vampire Diaries. In Season 8, the actress will play Seline, a nanny of two children. Based on the character description from Deadline, it is assumed that Seline will be caring for Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline’s (Candice King) twin daughters. With Caroline helping Bonnie and Stefan (Paul Wesley) search for Damon and Enzo, someone will have to take care of the Gemini twins.
It is unknown if Alaric will be joining the search in The Vampire Diaries. However, Candice King teased during an interview that it would be interesting to see how Alaric pulls Damon and Enzo back from the dark side. It was not a spoiler, just her thoughts on the upcoming season, but something to keep in mind.
