iPhone 7 And Galaxy Note 7 Will Be Challenged By New Google Smartphone

Google will likely challenge the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 later this year. Mac Rumors has the news.

“Google is set to launch its own smartphone by the end of the year in an effort to compete more directly with Apple and Samsung devices…Citing ‘senior sources’ familiar with the matter, the report claims that the company plans to unveil a Google-branded handset that is separate from its Nexus range of phones, which are designed and manufactured through partnerships with the likes of LG and HTC.”

The article adds that Google is currently in discussions with mobile carriers about the release of the phone by the end of 2016. Nothing has been revealed about the specs on Google’s new smartphone. However, Google will have a lot of competition from Apple and Samsung.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are scheduled to be released in mid-September. According to Gordon Kelly of Forbes, Apple’s latest smartphones may be disappointing to many.

“Millions anxiously await Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7, but a pair of new sources revealing its major changes suggest you might be better off focusing on the radical Galaxy Note 7 instead,” Kelly claims, noting that the only major changes could be the removal of the headphone plug.

However, CNET claims that Apple’s new iPhones will not only have dual stereo speakers, but a bigger camera as well. According to the report, one of the speakers will replace the headphone jack. Some of the commenters after the article aren’t very happy about this alleged development.

“I don’t know if I can live with no audio jack. It’d be great if they surprise us with wireless earbuds that have a great battery life,” says X37v13.

“No audio jack means no interest in purchasing for me. Apple has finally deal broken a customer who’s owned four generations of iPhones. I’ll ride the iPhone 6 Plus until I can’t,” claims Saintpauljeff.

However, many on Twitter are excited about Apple’s new iPhone, especially the iPhone 7 Plus, which may end up being called the “iPhone 7 Pro” instead.

However, Apple is going to have a lot of competition from Samsung this fall. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have overtaken Apple’s iPhone 6 devices in sales; the Galaxy Note 7, according to the Vine Report, will begin production in early July.

“Recent reports have pointed out that the long rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 6 — or Galaxy Note 7, or whatever it may end up being official called as — would enter mass production sometime around July and it is said to be the flagship phablet with the biggest initial supply to date, indicating a high expectation from the South Korean tech giant as to the perceived performance of the new flagship.”

The article adds that Samsung is currently gathering all the parts and completing all the necessary preparations before it enters production next month. According to Tech Times, the Note 7 will be quite a smartphone. It will have an eight-inch 1,440 x 2,560 pixel AMOLED display, a 12MP camera, an Iris scanner, 128GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot for up to 256GB extra memory, and will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 Chipset.

According to BGR, the Note 7 will also have a 4,000mAh battery, a USB-C port, and run Android N out of the box. There will likely be one version with a dual-edge display, and another where the screen doesn’t curve at all. The Note 7 is expected to arrive in stores after the second week of August.
