Fans of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are still hoping to see the two get back together; and there’s a chance that this could happen based on the Hollywood couple’s actions toward each other. During an interview on Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons at HBO, the 43-year-old actor revealed how much he still cares for the 44-year-old actress by calling her his wife, even if their divorce is ongoing.
According to Mail Online, Ben ignited speculations that he and Jen are back together by using the term “wife” instead of her first name. The star of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opened up about his split up from Jennifer Lopez and how the Alias actress helped her get back on his feet and fix his career.
“My wife was really instrumental and helpful in me doing a lot of that work because I was just so focused [on it] and it was harder to balance family and all that,” he said.
Affleck confessed to Simmons that his relationship with the 46-year-old singer had a huge effect on his career and psyche. His peers and the public didn’t take him seriously and that made him feel like he was just a big joke in their eyes.
“If you went by what people said… I wasn’t cool and I wasn’t talented,” the actor recalled. “I was, like, the lowest rung of cool and talented that you could possibly be in the public consciousness at that time.”
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez started dating in 2002. During the time they were together, they co-starred in Gigli and Jersey Girl, which were both considered box office bombs. According to PopSugar, their wedding was called off just hours before it was supposed to begin in 2003. They decided to call off their engagement in 2004 and that was the end of “Bennifer.”
“I had broken up with Jennifer Lopez and I had, like, three or four movies in a row that had bombed,” the screen heartthrob told Bill.
Apart from movies that flopped, the actor also became the topic of Robert Wuhl’s comedy act and that made him realize to take up directing so people will take him seriously. He started to work even harder and the result was two box office hits, including Argo and The Town.
When Jennifer Garner entered his life, Ben Affleck was more inspired to focus on his career and he credits his success to his wife. The two got married in 2005 and have three children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. Unfortunately, they decided to call it quits in June, 2015, which should have been their 10th wedding anniversary.
Despite the ongoing divorce, the two still live in the same property with their kids. They also go on vacation together and do all sorts of activities that husbands and wives do. There were rumors that the two are getting back together, but a source close to Jen Garner denied the speculations.
“She seems adamant about going through with it,” her pal told People. “She denies that she is back with Ben. She actually almost laughs when asked.”
As previously reported by Inquisitr, the former Hollywood couple still cares a lot for each other. They have nothing but good things to say about each other. During an interview with CBS This Morning a few months ago, Affleck showered Garner with praises.
“I am a giant fan of Jennifer. She’s just a fabulous person. She’s just a wonderful person. She’s a great mother. She’s a real talent,” he said.
Maybe if Ben keeps up doing that, Jen will soon realize that he has changed for the better and probably call off their divorce soon.
