Indianapolis Colts: 5 Reasons They Will Win The AFC South

The Indianapolis Colts are hoping to bounce back with a strong season in 2016 after struggling last year and coming up short of the playoffs. It was a dose of reality for the Colts, but they strongly believe that they can contend for a Super Bowl appearance this season.

Looking ahead at the upcoming season, there are quite a few reasons to believe that they can make a playoff run and will take back the AFC South division title.

Houston was able to swoop in and take advantage of the Colts’ struggles last season to win the division. Winning the division isn’t going to be easy for the Colts this season, as the Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars have both taken steps forward. Even the Tennessee Titans are going to be better than they have been in years past.

Andrew Luck was banged up all season long, and the Colts are in desperate need of their franchise quarterback coming back with a big season. He is motivated to prove that he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, as the media has been criticizing him for last season. Indianapolis has a lot of faith in Luck, and that will not change moving forward.

All of that being said, what five reasons can be given to support the statement that the Indianapolis Colts will win the AFC South division title in 2016?

Andrew Luck Will Bounce Back With A Huge Season

After the injury plagued season that he suffered last year, Luck will bounce back with a big performance in 2016. He has to prove once again that he is a franchise caliber quarterback and he will do just that. There is a good chance that Luck will put up big enough numbers to be considered in the MVP conversation.

Robert Mathis Will Help Fix the Pass Rushing Issue

Indianapolis is going to need a lot of pass rushing help this season and Robert Mathis is the guy that can do just that. He was coming back from an Achilles injury last season, but he is back at 100 percent. It will be interesting to see how the Colts use him this season, but if they turn him loose, Mathis will be part of the answer to their defensive problems.

Frank Gore Will Reach 1,000 Yards And Be A Major Offensive Weapon

Frank Gore ended up missing the 1,000-yard mark last season and was very upset with the way that he played. He will pick his game up this season and will reach the 1,000-yard mark. Indianapolis will need Gore to step up and take pressure off of Luck and the passing game and he will get the job done.

Chuck Pagano And Ryan Grigson Will Finally Stay in Their Own Lanes

Jim Irsay decided to keep Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson for at least one more season. He made the decision to tie their contract together, which will force them to stay in their own lanes. Pagano will be able to coach the team without worrying about Grigson and that should help cut out the drama that the Colts had nearly every week.

Indianapolis Is Simply a Deeper And Better Team Than the Rest Of The AFC South

Last season can’t be viewed as the Texans beating out the Colts to win the division. Indianapolis dealt with major injury issues all across their roster. The Colts are a deeper and better team than the rest of the AFC South barring more health problems and will prove their dominance this season.
