Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper Talk About ‘The Words’

Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper may have a tumultuous off-screen relationship (the couple have reportedly gotten together and broken up a few times), but their chemistry on-screen is effortless, seen in a clip of their new movie The Words, which premiered Friday.

When speaking about the film and her character Dora’s love for Rory (played by Cooper), US Magazine reports that Saldana stated:

“She’s sort of like his Northern Star — there’s nothing that she wouldn’t do or give up for him.”

Cooper also argues that:

“It’s a tremendous love story between Dora and Rory — a story that everyone can relate to. The power of their love can almost surpass any obstacle — in a real way, not in a movie way.”

The Hollywood Reporter notes that when she first heard about The Words, she wasn’t interested, but after reading the script, she fell in love with the words she read to a movie that had taken 13 years to reach the screen. Zoe Saldana stated:

“It was the kind of story that I would have loved to read as a book. I wasn’t looking for a role like Dora, but then I saw what she really was about. She was a very strong woman. She was very unconditional. She was very supportive.”

One reason why the film has worked to well is because of Saldana and Cooper’s chemistry. While they may or may not be dating off-screen, they showed that having an open friendship helped their chemistry on set. When she is asked about the dating rumors swirling around her and Bradley Cooper, however, Saldana smiled and coyly answered, “No comment.”
