Liam Hemsworth Defends Miley Cyrus Wedding Proposal In 2012 — Are They Getting Married This Year?
Liam Hemsworth wants the world to know that he did not get engaged on a whim back in 2012.
“I don’t think that was impulsive,” Hemsworth told News.com.au of his marriage proposal. “That was a well thought-out idea.”
The Independence Day: Resurgence actor was just 22 when he asked Miley Cyrus to marry him. Miley was 19. They called off the engagement about a year later, but sources recently told Us Weekly that we may soon be hearing wedding bells from their direction again.
“Miley and Liam are 100 percent back on,” the insider source close to the couple said. The source also disclosed that Hemsworth has told friends that he and Miley are engaged again.
For her part, Miley all but confirmed that she and Liam Hemsworth are dating again via Instagram. On June 19, she posted a picture of herself wearing a shirt with the word “Hemsworth” printed on the back. She captioned the photo with three heart-eyed, smiling cat emojis. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words.
According to E! Online, Miley and Liam were also spotted together in New York last week and they were holding hands, a sure sign that whatever is going on between them isn’t platonic.
While neither Miley or Liam have confirmed or denied anything about their relationship outright, Liam did speak openly about what it was like when they broke up back in 2013, in an interview with GQ Magazine for their June/July 2016 issue.
“Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen,” he said about their rough breakup. “We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time — we both needed that.”
When asked about where he sees himself now with Miley Cyrus, Liam said the following.
“I make my decisions about what’s going to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do — and I don’t worry too much outside of that.”
When he was asked to make a definitive statement on the state of his relationship with Miley Cyrus, Liam was evasive.

So, it’s pretty safe to assume that Miley and Liam are back together. But are they getting married soon? According to Us Weekly, the answer is yes and they’re having a beach wedding.
“They’re getting married on the beach,” an anonymous insider source told Us Weekly. A beach in Australia that is.
The source went on to say that both Cyrus and Hemsworth want to get married down under in Liam’s native Australia.
The Us Weekly article, which was published earlier this month, states that although a date hasn’t been set, the two celebrity love-birds have their hearts set on a summer wedding. So, if the rumors are true, we could see Miley Cyrus walking down the aisle in a wedding dress sometime in the near future.
Even Miley’s father is reportedly getting in on the wedding action. According to Us Weekly, Billy Ray Cyrus joked that he could officiate the wedding in an interview with The Today Show on June 1.
“They know if they need a preacher, they’ve found one,” the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer quipped.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth first met in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, where they played love interests. They started dating soon after.
