Jermaine Jackson’s Wife Halima Rashid Files For Divorce 7 Months After Domestic Violence Arrest

Jermaine Jackson is getting divorced from third wife Halima Rashid

Jermaine Jackson is headed to divorce court for the third time. The fourth Jackson child and former Jackson 5 member has been hit with divorce papers filed by his estranged wife, Halima Rashid, according to Entertainment Tonight. Jermaine Jackson’s wife cited irreconcilable differences in the court documents, listing November 28, 2015, as the couple’s date of separation.

Jermaine Jackson and his wife made headlines after they had a fight over Thanksgiving weekend last year, during which Jermaine allegedly spat on his wife and she bit his leg. Rashid was arrested for felony corporal injury, but no charges were filed against her, and the case was later dropped.

Jermaine Jackson and Halima were married in August 2004, and they have no children together, but Jermaine’s estranged ex is now requesting spousal support.

Jackson has nine children from several prior relationships. Jermaine was previously married to Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza from 1995 to 2003. He was also married to Hazel Gordy, the daughter of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, for 15 years, from 1973 to 1988. Unfortunately, now it appears the third time was not the charm for Jermaine.

Still, even after the November domestic violence dispute, Jackson told TMZ that he hoped to work things out with his wife, whom he admitted she was still in love with.

“I’ve been with Halima for 11 years, I still love her,” Jermaine said several days after the arrest. “She’s still my wife. Things happen.”

While they were a relatively low-profile couple, two years ago, Jermaine Jackson and his wife appeared together on the ABC reality show Celebrity Wife Swap. Jermaine swapped “wives” with actor Daniel Baldwin for a memorable episode of the show.

At the time, Jermaine’s faux wife, Baldwin’s former girlfriend, Isabella Hofmann, took issue with the singer’s hoarding problem with clothing, shoes, and cologne. Hofmann even accused Jackson of being a shopaholic, and after the two engaged in a heated argument, Jermaine locked himself in his room and refused to continue with the production of the show. According to AOL Entertainment, Jackson finally participated in the roundtable chat at the end of the episode, but he later shut off communication with ABC producers and refused to give any kind of update on how he and his wife were doing after filming ended. The only comment Jermaine Jackson did make was that he would “never in a billion years” do Celebrity Wife Swap again.

While his TV wife swap didn’t work out, Jackson likes being in a real relationship. In an interview conducted late last year with Women’s Life magazine, Jermaine Jackson said he loves being in love. Interestingly, he also made his marriage sounds like it was in the past tense even though the interview was conducted well before the divorce filing.

“I love being in a relationship,” Jackson said. “I loved being married. If the marriage falls apart it’s sad but a fact of human nature. Often the men fall weak but not all times, but if we have a respectful relationship and we offer each other 1000%. That’s what a marriage should be.”

While Jermaine Jackson has not yet commented on his impending divorce, the 61-year-old singer did speak out regarding resurrected accusations about his late brother Michael, after tabloid reports surfaced saying a stash of child pornography was found at the late music icon’s Neverland Ranch more than a decade ago. Jermaine slammed the recycled reports as old — and false — news, saying the dated allegations were disproved in court many years ago. Jermaine Jackson also asked that people just let his brother rest in peace 9 years after his sudden death.
