Little Mix has been having the time of their lives on stage and off stage, and their recent social media updates prove it. However, Little Mix is also being drawn into the Glastonbury Festival brawl due to their tendency to not invite very many female performers.
About the 2016 Glastonbury Festival, the annual event is considered one of the most prestigious in the U.K., and while some celebrity musicians, like Niall Horan, have attended in the past, it does not mean a big-name band like Little Mix will be invited.
While it is rare that someone challenges Glastonbury Festival organizers on their selection process for bands, there is one caveat that has incensed music fans that cannot help to notice a lack of a female presence at Glastonbury.
This fact is true, despite performers like Little Mix, Jess Glynne, and Ellie Goulding being some of the top-selling musical acts in the U.K.
Radio Times wrote on June 23 that the statistics for Glastonbury’s track record with women are astonishing.
“Out of the 91 headliners at Worthy Farm since the festival began in 1970, only 15 have included a woman… [In 2015] some 86 percent of the line-up was male.”
This year, Glastonbury Festival is being held from June 22 to 26 and is headlining Adele (among others), but Radio Times pointed out that Glastonbury might need to step up with hosting bands like Little Mix because “V Festival is the only other weekend that can also boast a main stage line-up where women are really represented.”
It was further emphasized how this statistic works against female performers like Little Mix because “bankable old rock bands still dominate the headliners” for festivals.

What is not known is whether Glastonbury Festival organizers tried to get Little Mix to attend their event. It could also be speculated that Little Mix declined an invite from Glastonbury organizers because they were already planning their Get Weird Tour.
In other words, Glastonbury Festival organizers might be shading female performers, but not directly giving side-eye to Little Mix.
If shade was given by Glastonbury Festival organizers toward Little Mix, it would not have made good business sense because Little Mix recently won the 2016 award for “top-selling arena tour” in the U.K., according to Digital Spy. Little Mix has also won several recent music awards for having multiple platinum singles.
In the meantime, Little Mix appears to be having fun on the European leg of their Get Weird Tour, and Sugarscape pointed out on June 22 that their recent interview might be their weirdest yet. Talking with a German interviewer on June 20, Little Mix had to answer a bunch of random questions.
For example, Perrie Edwards said her favorite part of being on stage was “when the audience sings back,” she prefers unicorns, that she wanted to be “Baby Spice” of the Spice Girls, and that she cannot pick the craziest rumor about herself because there are too many.
Behind-the-scenes, Little Mix celebrated Jesy Nelson’s birthday on June 14. Little Mix also got a visit on June 21 while they were performing in Milan, Italy. At that time, Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson had boyfriend Jake Roche show up with an entourage that included Ed Sheeran at the Little Mix show, according to Daily Mail.
Of course, Little Mix might be trying to spruce up the spirit of the tour because Leigh-Anne Pinnock “quietly” broke up with her long-time boyfriend, Jordan Kiffin. According to Celebs Now, Leigh-Anne Pinnock has started following hot guys on Instagram immediately after their alleged mid-June breakup.
With all of the excitement going on, it can be difficult to think that Jade Thirlwall was accused of being rude. Metro reported on June 21 that Jade Thirlwall said a nightclub had questionable staff, the nightclub tweeted that Jade was to blame, and Jade responded by pointing out the facts to effectively shut them down.
As if that review-gone-wrong was not strange enough, soon after, Perrie Edwards was photographed inside of a fridge around the time of the Little Mix concert in Milan, Italy.
Finally, there is a fan army war going on that needs #Mixers to settle the score. According to iHeart, there is now a “Squad Warz” vote that is being tallied, and Little Mix is not in the lead. To vote for Little Mix, visit Z100 iHeart for instructions about tweeting for #Mixers.
