Nicole Kidman Dares To Go Gray In New TV Role

Nicole Kidman, the Oscar-winning Australian actress, will be joining the cast of a much-loved television show that began in 2013. After a year of negotiations, Nicole Kidman has joined the cast of Top of the Lake, the critically acclaimed thriller co-produced by BBC One and Foxtel.

Nicole Kidman will be seen working alongside Elisabeth Moss, who won the 2014 Golden Globe award for playing the central character in the series. The BBC recently confirmed that Nicole Kidman will feature in the popular series that is centered around a detective who is investigating the case of an unidentified body that is discovered on Sydney’s Bondi Beach. According to the Daily Telegraph, Nicole Kidman spoke about how excited she was to work with Jane Campion and actress Elisabeth Moss who plays the central character in the series.

“I am very excited to be coming home to work with darling friend Jane Campion, whose work I respect and admire. I’m also so happy to be joining the incredible Elisabeth Moss.”

The production of the upcoming season of Top of the Lake will see Nicole Kidman reuniting with New Zealand director Jane Campion, who previously directed the Australian star in the 1996 hit The Portrait of a Lady. ET Online reports that Nicole Kidman champions an entirely new look in the series as she has sported a full head of gray hair in preparation for her upcoming role.

Nicole Kidman’s matured look in the series has her joining the ranks of celebrities like Brad Pitt, Kourtney Kardashian and Demi Moore, who have proudly flashed their gray streaks on screen. Even Kate Middleton allowed her gray hair to show during her second pregnancy, as it is widely considered unsafe to dye your hair during pregnancy.

According to the New York Daily News, Nicole will do justice to her role in the series that is visually stunning, well-written and fantastically acted.

With this move, Nicole Kidman will be seen coming back to television after her earlier stint in 1989, when she featured in Bangkok Hilton. In fact, Top of the Lake is not the only television project that the Moulin Rouge actress will be acting in this year. Nicole will also be seen in Big Little Lies, the new series on HBO in which she will be sharing the spotlight with celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern.

Additionally, the Eyes Wide Shut star will also be seen endorsing brands in television commercials. In fact, last year, she was seen in a commercial which promoted the Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways. Nicole Kidman’s involvement in television productions and commercials has proved that working in a television series can sometimes be more prestigious than featuring in a theatrical movie. It once was the case that films were seen as a more sophisticated and higher-budget creative medium than television, but nowadays, top directors and actors are devoting their considerable talents towards television projects, which are becoming just as high-budget and impressive as their big-screen counterparts. Not everyone is successful in finding success in both movies and television shows, but Nicole Kidman has shown her ability to find success in any medium.

On the personal front, Nicole Kidman is looking happier than ever as she celebrates her ten-year marriage to Keith Urban on June 25. Ten years ago, Nicole and Keith married in a ceremony that was held on the stunning grounds of St. Patrick’s Estate in Sydney. Since then, the couple’s fairy-tale romance has continued to soar. According to Woman’s Day, Nicole Kidman is so fond of her husband that she even regrets not having met him until later in life.

Keith Urban voices a similar sentiment by calling Nicole an amazing wife and mother who is also his best friend. And it seems that Nicole Kidman will have a good time in Australia as her daughters, Faith and Sunday Rose, are accompanying her for the shooting of the new season of Top of the Lake. Nicole will be shooting scenes in and around the CBD in the coming five weeks, and she will be later joined by Keith Urban, who will be taking a break from his Ripcord World Tour to celebrate her 49th birthday on June 20.

Foxtel boss Brian Walsh is hopeful that Nicole’s involvement in Australian television will inspire other A-list celebrities to return back to television.
