Is Katy Perry’s New Single A Response To Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood?’

According to reports, Katy Perry may be gearing up to hit back at Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” with the upcoming release of the lead single from her fifth studio album.

Rumors began swirling that Perry was preparing to respond Taylor’s 2014 diss track on her new album after Twitter user @lovelymissJJ, who claims to be a studio engineer, alleged that Katy’s upcoming lead single will see Perry hit back at Swift.

“Katy’s response to ‘Bad Blood’ is so good but no ones gonna care cos the beef died down,” the Twitter user, who goes by the moniker Nana JJ, tweeted out before claiming that Perry’s team have already worked out Katy’s promotional schedule ahead of the new single release.

Alleging that the song is set for release this coming August, the Twitter user claimed that the lead single has already been chosen while Perry’s “calendar, promo, everything is planned months in advance.”

Katy is yet to speak out regarding the most recent claims, though a number of other social media fans also took to the site to allege that Perry’s upcoming new single will put Swift on serious blast.

“Katy Perry’s lead single from #KP4 is rumoured to be coming this August and it’s apparently a response to ‘Bad Blood'” @MusicFactsShady tweeted out, before adding, “Katy Perry’s new single is strongly rumoured [to] be a response to Taylor’s “Bad Blood”. Is Katy the new Regina George?”

Katy and Taylor have long not seen eye to eye, with Swift even calling Perry her “straight up enemy” in a past interview with Rolling Stone, where she revealed her inspiration behind the scathing track about her feud with Katy, “Bad Blood.”

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Taylor said of an unnamed female popstar in the 2014 interview. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”

Fans largely pointed the finger at Katy, claiming that a number of dancers from Swift’s ‘1989 Tour’ jumped ship to join Katy’s ‘Prismatic Tour,’ after which Perry appeared to confirm the reports on social media.

“Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing,” Katy Perry tweeted in response September 2014, which had fans speculating she was referring to Taylor Swift as the Mean Girls villain Regina George.

But as fans continue to speculate about whether or not Perry is now ready to hit back, other reports are claiming that Katy may have already taken aim at Taylor over her “Bad Blood” diss, reigniting their past feud.

Revealing her newest scent this week, Perry appeared to name her newest perfume after a line in the scathing song by opting to call the fragrance “Mad Love,” which just so happens to be one of the lyrics Swift sings in the 2014 track.

Katy has so far neither confirmed nor denied the reports that her latest perfume venture was her way of throwing a little shade Taylor’s way, but this certainly isn’t the first time it’s been rumored that the “Firework” singer was looking to hit back at Swift over the hit.

Hollywood Life claimed last year that Perry had recently recorded a track called “1984” for her upcoming album, which was supposedly aimed at Taylor.

“‘1984’ is without question a diss track,” a source told the site at the time, who also claimed that “Katy was working on some other songs against Taylor, but “1984” will be the main rebuttal to ‘Bad Blood.'”

However, a rep for Katy Perry later denied the rumors, claiming that Perry had no involvement in the song.

“Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false,” a representative revealed. “Katy was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song.”

The latest round of reports come just days after it was reported that Perry was on Team Kardashian after Kim took serious aim at Taylor in a candid interview with GQ magazine.

After Kim seriously called out Swift for claiming that she was unaware of the misogynistic content in Kanye West’s track “Famous,” Kim blasted Taylor and claimed that she was in fact well aware of the song’s lyrics.

According to Hollywood Life, “Katy loves what Kim said about Taylor” and supposedly “loves that one of the most popular people in the world is calling out Taylor for who she really is.”

Though Katy never officially responded to the Kim, Kanye and Taylor drama, the site’s insider then alleged that Perry “is happy that people are getting to know that Taylor isn’t as squeaky clean as she appears to be.”

What do you think of reports claiming that Katy Perry is planning to hit back at Taylor Swift with a diss track of her own?
