‘The Walking Dead’ Producer Greg Nicotero Discloses On Season 7

The Walking Dead Season 7 is about to change everything you thought you knew about the series and the comic book. Executive producer for TWD, Greg Nicotero, says that even though Season 6 left you with a cliffhanger, there is much more to know about what’s to come than just the victim.

When Greg Nicotero was promoting The Walking Dead ride at Universal Studios, he also sat down to speak with the press about what Season 7 has in store for fans of the show. When he spoke with Digital Spy, he gave them a little more than fans had previously known about what’s to come on The Walking Dead.

Needless to say, The Walking Dead fans are going to get exactly what they have been waiting for when Season 7 opens up in October on AMC, Nicotero admits. But what they are going to get is something else that entirely changes everything that fans previously knew about the show.

What is especially unique is that Greg Nicotero spoke about The Walking Dead comic book as just a source material, but the show is going to be completely different moving forward.

“The next season is a very different Walking Dead from the one we are accustomed to. I think that people will enjoy that the show continues to change direction and doesn’t just deliver the same thing over and over again,” Greg Nicotero told Digital Spy. “It’s the logical place where our show should go. We close one chapter and open a whole new chapter.”

Logical or not, if they aren’t following The Walking Dead comic books then fans are in for one heck of a surprise. Most fans think that Glenn is the one who died at the end of Negan’s bat. But that most likely isn’t going to be the case.

One thing to note is that not only did Carol die much earlier on in The Walking Dead comic book series, but she never became such a bada** charter that she currently is on the show. Then there is also that wild card known as Daryl Dixon, who never appeared in the comic book series, but is one of, if not THE, main characters of the show.

So when it comes to using The Walking Dead comic book series as a spoilers guide, fans already know better.

“I don’t think we would be doing the [Walking Dead comic book] material justice if we just regurgitated it word for word,” Nicotero said. “There are iconic moments, and there are things that we will pay tribute to, and even if we don’t do it exactly the same way that we find it in the comic book, we will find a way for fans of the graphic novel to feel like they are getting their money’s worth.”

There has been news coming down the wire that The Walking Dead is about to release their Blu-Ray disc of Season 6 that will feature an extended scene of Negan and his sermon just before he let loose his deadly blows with the bat. But that extra footage will not reveal who died.

One thing that we know for certain about Season 7 of The Walking Dead is that no matter who died, the TWD world is going to be changed forever and fans may even see Rick Grimes turning into a bit of anti-hero after this, seeking justice no matter what means he needs to use to justify it. That is kind of like Negan is right now.

The simple truth is, there really is no way of knowing this information until Season 7 of The Walking Dead premieres this fall on AMC.
