Keira Knightley Seek Support From Baby Daddy James Righton After ‘Begin Again’ Criticism

Keira Knightley and James Righton have survived the first year of raising their baby girl together when Keira was hit by unwarranted criticism from Begin Again director John Carney. Good thing that she has such a dependable husband in James Righton to get through the rough waters together.

Keira Knightley is enjoying a lull in her film career as she just wrapped up Therese Raquin on Broadway in the early spring. But it looks like it’s impossible to be famous and have a tranquil lifestyle.

Just a few weeks ago, the 31-year-old actress was suddenly criticized by John Carney, during the time that she worked on Begin Again. The director unloaded all his insecurities and thoughts about the lackluster reception of the film on her during an interview he gave.

“I think the real problem was that Keira wasn’t a singer and wasn’t a guitar player and it’s very hard to make music seem real if it’s not with musicians,” John Carney, the director of Begin Again, said according to the Hollywood Reporter. “And I think the audience struggled a little bit with that in Begin Again. And as much as I tried to make it work, I think that she didn’t quite come out as a guitar-playing singer-songwriter.”

“Keira has an entourage that follow her everywhere so it’s very hard to get any real work done, and so I was very ready to come back to Ireland and make films that nobody cared about who was in it or any of that crap,” he added. “I learned that I’ll never make a film with supermodels again.”

Seeing how big of a star Keira is, her publicists definitely did not allow this assault to slide. And soon enough, John Carney was back with an apology that matched the intensity of his insults.

I’m ashamed of myself that I could say such things and I’ve been trying to account for what they say about me. In trying to pick holes in my work, I ended up blaming someone else,” he wrote on Twitter. “Keira was nothing but professional and dedicated during that film and she contributed hugely to its success.”

Meanwhile, the actress did not get personally involved in the media feud, choosing to stay with people that actually bring fulfilment in her life, like her husband, James Righton, and her baby, Edie. She chose to head over to Italy to support her artistic friend Sophia Coppola, as well as doing some casual sightseeing with her baby daddy.

“Just hours before wowing on the red carpet at the Teatro dell’Opera, Keira Knightley and James Righton were just a pair of regular tourists as they checked out the sights of the Italian capital,” reports Daily Mail. “With their baby daughter Edie presumably at home with relatives, the couple were making the most of their alone time as they enjoyed an afternoon of sightseeing.”

She is also stepping her game up as she is looking to return after her year-long maternity leave. She has been picked to promote Chanel’s new jewelry brand.

“Keira Knightley is no novice to the world of Chanel, considering she already fronts the brand’s Coco Mademoiselle fragrance and Rouge Coco beauty campaigns,” reports In Style Magazine. “But for her latest portrait session for the beloved Parisian fashion brand, the 31-year-old actress successfully personifies Coco herself in the lead shot for her fall 2016 Chanel fine jewelry portfolio.”

With her baby Edie having just turned one year old and her husband returning to do some more work with his band Klaxons, Keira Knightley is feeling the call to do more movies. As a self-proclaimed “workaholic,” the actress is eager to tackle roles that challenge her.
