The Real Reason Behind Demi Lovato & Wilmer Valderrama’s Split
Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama are just one of the many young Hollywood couples who have gone their separate ways. Fans are shocked to learn that the couple has just ended their relationship after six years of dating.
It seems like Demi Lovato, 23, and Wilmer Valderrama, 36, have been through a lot together. Not only are the two former lovers, but they’re also best friends. Lovato credits Valderrama for helping her through her battle with alcohol and drugs, along with helping her through her eating disorder, bipolar disorder, and self-harm. It seemed like Lovato and Valderrama were a match made in Hollywood heaven.
“Demi wants a ring, but Wilmer wasn’t ready to get married,” a source told OK! magazine. “She didn’t want to wait around anymore, so they decided to part ways.”
It’s not entirely surprising, since Lovato has been open and honest about wanting to marry Valderrama. When she made an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show back in February, Lovato expressed that she would be willing to marry him, but only if he put a ring on it.
“I don’t see a ring. I wouldn’t mind if I saw one. But there’s time for everything. You know, we’ve been together this long, and it’s like, obviously I’m not going anywhere and vice versa.”
To the surprise of everyone, the couple went split four months later in early June. Demi and Wilmer took to their respective Instagram accounts to announce their shocking split.
“After almost six loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship. This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years.”
Nick Jonas, one of Lovato’s good friends, opened up about their couple’s split, telling Entertainment Tonight that it couldn’t have happened at a better time.
“I’ve built an amazing friendship with Wilmer over the years and I have so much love for him. Demi is one of my closest friends in the world so I’m here for her and for both of them, really.”
Jonas explained why the couple’s split couldn’t have come at a better time. He said that since both he and Lovato are about to head out on their Future Now tour, the split is the best thing for everything. Well, now the Jonas brother is finding himself in the middle of the couple’s split.
“[Valderrama] told her he thought she was in love with Nick. They would scream at each other and it sounded like the house was going to fall down. Wilmer found texts from Demi begging Nick to talk to her and he blew up.”
Gossip Cop quickly debunked the false report. The outlet spoke to both of Lovato’s and Valderrama’s sources, who say that Jonas was not involved behind the couple’s split. The tabloid previously reported that Lovato was secretly in love with Jonas.
“Wilmer and Nick get along great,” the source added.
It seems like the two have grown apart and became more friends than lovers during their long time together. An inside source told E! News that their relationship became more of a “big brother-little sister kind of relationship.” The source went on to say that Wilmer tried to ride off of Demi’s fame, but then the romance died. If that’s the case, then it’s smart for Demi and Wilmer to go their separate ways than to try to work out something that’s clearly not working.
