Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Battled Over Cheating Claims: Did He Abuse Her?

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are involved in a highly publicized divorce that has turned into a debate, with his side revealing a different account of what happened during their marriage than her team. Although her allegations that she was abused when they were together have earned the spotlight, an insider told E! News that one of the biggest fights occurred when Heard believed Depp was cheating.

Amber felt suspicious that Johnny was unfaithful to her. When she challenged him with her belief that he had been with another woman, Depp blew up.

“Johnny had a night out and Amber had a feeling he had been with someone. She questioned him about it and he blew up at her, got in her face yelling, chased her upstairs. Amber was scared,” revealed the insider.

Although Depp did not confess that he had cheated, he did offer an apology to Heard.

“[Amber] ultimately forgave him,” added the source.

But the question of whether Heard was abused by Johnny remains hotly contested. The two had been married for more than a year before the news broke that they were quitting. Following the filing of divorce papers, Amber offered examples of domestic violence in her documents for a restraining order against Depp. Those documents did not allege that he had cheated.

Among those countering Heard’s charges that Johnny abused her is his ex Vanessa Paradis. A source close to Vanessa revealed to E! News that no allegations of abuse were involved in the split between Paradis and Depp.

“Everybody in the French community in France that know Vanessa and Johnny have only ever said good things about him. Vanessa and Johnny didn’t split because he was allegedly abusive to her, they are still best friends and still get along really well.”

Neither when she was with Depp nor after did Paradis hint at abuse or domestic violence, according to that insider, who clarified that the romance ended amicably while contending that Amber is “unpredictable” and got involved with Johnny only to become famous herself.

“They just stopped caring about each other romantically and it didn’t work out. Vanessa never showed any indication that she was a victim of abuse—while she was with Johnny or after they split,” emphasized the source. “Vanessa loves him still and her French friends do too, they know Amber is unpredictable and always felt she was just in it for the fame.”

Depp has not provided a statement about the allegations that he abused Amber. However, his representative provided a comment following the filing of the divorce documents.

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” said the representative. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

However, despite those comments defending Depp, Heard’s domestic abuse claims have had a strong impact on the actor’s image, pointed out the New York Daily News.

Although there are those who side with Team Johnny, those who believe Amber when she alleged that Depp had acted violently toward her were irate when they learned that his Dior advertisements stayed up.

“Absolutely take it down,” said Tessa Pawlik, 18, about views of Johnny as the face of Dior’s campaign. “He’s an abuser and it shouldn’t be out there.”

The campaign has featured Depp ads online and television as well as billboards in New York City.

“It’s perpetuating the idea that it’s OK to hit women, and this company is condoning that,” contended one 22-year-old Starbucks barista named Ashley.

One person who defended Depp is comedian Doug Stanhope, who claimed that Heard was guilty of “blackmailing” Johnny, reported People.

Amber responded to the comedian’s accusations that she had lied about the domestic violence with a defamation lawsuit. As part of that lawsuit, Heard described some of the abuse by Depp.

“Depp has hit and kicked Heard on numerous occasions, has thrown objects at her, at one point suffocated her to the point where she feared for her life,” alleged the court documents.

On each occasion that she was attacked, Amber went back to Johnny hopeful that he would change his ways, she explained.

“Within months, the cycle of substance abuse and violence repeated.”
