‘Walking Dead’ Cast Members Appearing At Orlando Charity Event

The Walking Dead cast members, from both the present and the past, will join forces with the Fan Fest Orlando for a very important cause. EW.com reported that a large number of Walking Dead cast members will appear at the fan convention in Orlando to raise money for the victims of the Pulse nightclub tragedy.

Among those Walking Dead cast members in attendance at the big charity event in Orlando are Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Alanna Masterson (Tara), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Seth Gilliam (Gabriel), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Emily Kinney (Beth), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (Bob), Chandler Riggs (Carl), Melissa McBride (Carol), Jordan Woods-Robinson (Eric), and executive producer Greg Nicotero.

Others will join the Walking Dead cast members at the Fan Fest Orlando fundraising campaign as well. Two of the bigger names at the event are from the show Arrow, as star Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Arrow) and David Ramsey (Diggle) will be donating their time, as well.

According to EW, the founder of Fan Fest Orlando, James Frazier, hopes to raise $500,000 thanks to the help of The Walking Dead cast members at the one-day event to help out the victims of the Pulse nightclub tragedy. He spoke about how the event affected him on the Fan Fest website.

“I grew up in Orlando, graduated from high school there, got married there, and had four of my children there. Last week, my heart was broken by a senseless tragedy. I wondered, what can we do? How can we help? This September, we’re inviting our community of fans to come help us raise as much money as we can for the families that were impacted.”

One hundred percent of the profits made from The Walking Dead meet-and-greets, autograph signings, photo opportunities, and ticket sales at Fan Fest Orlando will go to the One Orlando Fund. This is a charity formed by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to provide support to the victims of the Pulse tragedy and their families.

The tragic incident took place on Sunday, June 12, when a gunman entered the Pulse nightclub, a gay nightclub in Orlando, and opened fire. He murdered 49 people and injured over 50 others. This was the worst mass shooting in United States history.

There will also be other events being set up to honor and help the Orlando Pulse victims. CNN reported that Brian Smith-Riha, the President of the Come Out With Pride Orlando organization, also has planned a big event, not so much to raise money but to pay respect to those who are no longer with us.

“We’re putting something together for October 8 (Orlando’s LGBT Pride celebration) in memory of the victims and their friends and family. We’re ensuring that we’re carrying on their names in some shape or form…. I don’t think it’s fully hit me yet. It’s definitely hard.”

When it comes to the Fan Fest Orlando, the event will take place on September 17, 2016, at the Orlando County Convention Center. Fans who attend will get to see events normally held at separate events, including the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest and Walker Stalker Con.

Included will be free panel sessions with The Walking Dead cast members as well as those from Arrow and Flash. There will also be cosplayers in attendance and a lot of vendors from the world of comics, movie, and TV entertainment, and more.

Tickets start at $55 for general admission and there are also $800 tickets for a Platinum VIP experience. Fan Fest Orlando will take place from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., with VIP entry at 9 a.m.

The Walking Dead is on its summer break, but The Walking Dead cast members are hard at work filming Season 7 of The Walking Dead. The next season will kick off in October, just one month after the big Fan Fest Orlando takes place.
