Iggy Azalea Rewrites Her Future: Rapper Dumps Fiancé Nick Young Days After Gushing About Wedding Plans In Interview

Iggy Azalea says her future is a blank page. The Aussie rapper announced on Instagram that she has ended her engagement to NBA star Nick Young.

“Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him — it’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to,” Iggy wrote. “I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned your entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.”

Young confirmed the news of his split from Azalea with a single word on Twitter.

While fans aren’t totally surprised that Iggy Azalea won’t be marrying Nick Young — the L.A. Lakers small forward was embroiled in a cheating scandal just three months ago when a leaked tape had him bragging about sleeping with other women while dating Azalea — what is surprising is the timing of the split.

According to the Daily Mail, Iggy Azalea just gave a new interview to the Australian tabloid New Weekly, which was published just one day after she announced her breakup. In the interview, the 26-year-old “Fancy” rapper talked about her custom Armani dress and said her wedding planning was “going good.” Azalea went on to say her fiancé wanted a supersized wedding party because he has such a large family.

‘He has so many people that he’s inviting and so many groomsmen,” Iggy said. “He has 12 groomsmen and I am like, ‘Can you narrow it down?” I only have four bridesmaids.”

In the same interview, Iggy Azalea also revealed that she wrote a love song for her future husband for her upcoming album Digital Distortion.

“I usually do break-up ‘I hate you’ songs, but I’m getting married, so I can’t write those anymore!” Iggy joked.

And just one week ago, Young also spoke about his wedding planning with Iggy. In an interview on Billboard’s Ballin’ Out podcast, the basketball star said the wedding planning was in full swing.

“It’s coming along,” he said. “It’s a little tough because a lot of people want to come… And she’s just turned into this — what’s it called, bridezilla?”

In April, shortly after the cheating scandal, Iggy Azalea set the record straight on the status of her relationship with her fiance, saying she was “still figuring it all out.” At the time, Iggy said she “couldn’t assign” a percentage to the chances that she would be getting married to Young. But in a later interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she said there were no problems at home.

“We’re good,” Azalea said. “There isn’t [controversy] at home just on the Internet.”

But fans eagle-eyed fans noticed that Iggy recently celebrated her 26th birthday with a vacation with some of her girlfriends and not her fiancé. The “Team” rapper also was spotted without her massive diamond engagement ring in several of her recent Instagram photos.

The split comes nearly one year to the day after Iggy Azalea and her man became engaged at the athlete’s 30th birthday party. Last June, Us Weekly reported that Young proposed to Iggy with a unique $500,000 yellow engagement ring he specially designed with the help of Beverly Hills jeweler Jason Arasheben. The 10.4-carat ring boasted an 8.15-carat Fancy Intense yellow center with white diamonds set in 18-karat white gold.

While her relationship future is now a blank page, Iggy Azalea is set to begin a stint as a judge on Australian X Factor.
