Ozarks Boat Crash Video Goes Viral As Scary Moment On The Water Caught On Tape [Video]

A video of an Ozarks boat crash has gone viral after clearly capturing a violent on-water accident from an unusual vantage point has captivated the web.

The clip of the Ozarks boat crash has been viewed by more than 900,000 people on YouTube, showing the footage taken from a camera showing the inside of the boat (at a high-resolution) and how the crash tossed the previously happy boat occupants around like rag dolls.

The Ozarks boat crash clip was uploaded by user “ohhellmaybe,” who describes the accident:

“A boating accident at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri was captured on a shocking video last Friday. The crash happened when the Fountain powerboat plowed into a large wake of another vessel at high speed. The boat slammed from side to side causing injuries to the driver and six passengers. Five were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor to moderate injuries.”

The August 24 Ozarks boat crash in Missouri was determined to be the fault of the boat’s driver, Melvin Carter, who it was later discovered was driving at speeds of up to 70 mph, creating unsafe conditions. Six of the seven people on the boat were treated for minor to moderate injuries after the Ozarks boat crash.

According to local police Sgt. Jerry Callahan, the Ozarks boat crash could have been far worse, and boaters should remember to operate crafts at safe speeds:

“We are very fortunate that none of the passengers were thrown out of the vessel. Especially since falls overboard are the most common fatality accident on a boat. Slow down and allow yourself plenty of time to reach your destination whether in a vehicle or by boat. You need to be ready to expect higher numbers of traffic on the water and road.”
